Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 30 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBXQ 94.3.

Thanks to our guests in the studio this week, Indiana County-based power trio Dollarz-n-Sense (www.myspace.com/dollarznsense) for an insightful and hard-rocking two hours! We met the band members and learned their story to date, and heard their thoughts on their music as we played songs from their 2006 CD Destination: U$ and their recently-issued EP Unsung Hero. We also debuted new songs from Vs. the Earth, Gasoline Dion, Dubmissive and Fixer; we updated Local Music News, and reviewed Rockabilly Junction’s Don’t Let It Fool You… CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be read in the “Backyard Rocker” section of the message board area on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com.)

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

DOLLARZ-N-SENSE – “Southern Woman”
LEDBETTER HEIGHTS – “Caged in Violence”
DOLLARZ-N-SENSE – “Unsung Hero”
THE MARAUDERS – “Hell on High Heels”

Next Sunday night, our guests in the studio will be Shippensburg-based rockers Ledbetter Heights. We’ll get reacquainted with the band members, find out their latest happenings, and hear tunes from their newly-released second CD, Evolve. We’ll also hear tunes from other area bands and artists, and review Evelyn’s Ashes’ CD Far Away in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Ledbetter Heights returns to the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!

In Local Music News…

The State College-based hard rock band Nyne bid farewell to area stages last night with their final show at Mojo’s in Clearfield. Nyne’s bassist, Adam Zimmer, is moving on to form a new band with former Til December guitarist Jeremy Edge, Adam’s former Stept On bandmate, drummer Josh Hetrick, and singer Charlotte Kopp. The new band project does not yet have a name, but more details will be announced soon.

Johnstown-based classic rockers Midnight Graffiti have added a second singer, as former Jimmy Sweatpants vocalist Ruschelle Dillon adds a second female voice alongside the group’s longtime lead singer, Natalie Kurchak.

And the area music community pulled together this past weekend to help out a youngster in need. The “Benefit for Chance” concert last night at The Cantina in Altoona drew a large audience of people, and raised over $1,200 to help out 8-year-old Chance Dull, a Bedford area youngster recently diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer. The bands The Marauders, Dragon Fire, The Embalmed, Dick Shack Posse, Sever and FedUP all performed spirited and inspired sets; and the evening also featured door prizes and a 50/50 drawing to raise funds for Chance and his family. Anybody who couldn’t attend the show who wants to help out the cause can donate by making out a check and mailing it to:
