Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the July 19 edition of Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).

Thanks to our guests via phone, Rick Klinger and Robert Scott Richardson of Hybrid Ice (www.hybridice.net). We got caught up on Hybrid Ice 2009, previewed what Altoona area fans can expect when the group makes their area return this Thursday at the Lakemont Park Wing-Off, and checked out tunes from the group’s new CD, Mind’s Eye. We also highlighted two past songs from Hybrid Ice for Local Music Flashbacks. In addition, we updated Local Music News; played a new song by Days Before Tomorrow, and reviewed Iroquois Confederacy’s The Left-Handed Peace Pipe CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THUNDERBOX – “Road to Nevermore”
CHRIS VIPOND AND THE STANLEY STREET BAND – “Media Controls the World”
HYBRID ICE – “Fight Another Day”
CHRISTINE HAVRILLA – “Wire”
HYBRID ICE – “Shining Star”
HYBRID ICE – “Scars on My Heart” (1988, Local Music Flashback)
HYBRID ICE – “Bring the Gold”

This Sunday night, our guest will be Altoona-based singer, songwriter and pianist Nick Finochio. We’ll get acquainted with Nick, and hear songs from his new CD Based on a True Story! We’ll also update Local Music News, and review Conner Gilbert’s CD, The View from Within, in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Nick Finochio visits the “Homegrown Rocker,” this Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

AUG. 2 – SKELL

In Local Music News…

Mysterytrain keyboard player and singer Gina Riggio has released her first official solo CD. The disc is called Ultraviolet Catastrophe, and is available online and at Mysterytrain shows. Gina unveiled the CD at a special CD-release event earlier this month at Bar Bleu in State College.

Meanwhile, Gina and her bandmates in Mysterytrain will entertaining blood donors this Monday during the Red Cross’ annual Grateful Blood Drive at Altoona’s Jaffa Shrine.

The “Homegrown Rocker” extends speedy recovery wishes to Kyx keyboard player Terry Wills. Terry is recuperating from serious injuries suffered in a recent motorcycle accident. Kyx will continue to perform without a keyboard player until Terry recovers.
