Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 2 edition of Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).

Thanks to our guests; guitarist Mike Palone, singer Pat “Bones” Bono and drummer Keith Kweder of Pittsburgh metal rockers Skell (www.skellrocks.com), for making the roadtrip in to Altoona to appear on this week’s program. (Thanks also to Chris and The Underground Television for the use of their studio for the interview!) We found out the latest Skell happenings, and heard insight about the group’s new CD, Shangri La 27; several lucky listeners called in to win copies! We also highlighted a 2000 song from Pat’s former band, Basis, for a Local Music Flashback. In addition, we updated Local Music News, played new songs by My Inner Animal and The Hitchcock Curse, and reviewed After The Fall’s Hope Dies Hard CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

HYBRID ICE – “Faith Without Works”
SPIRIT LOST – “The Burden of Life”
SKELL – “Fight”
MY INNER ANIMAL – “Bulletproof”
SKELL – “Two Minute Atomic Clock”
SOLEGION – “Sovereign Mantra”
SKELL – “Head”
THE HITCHCOCK CURSE – “Phoenix Generation”

HOUR TWO:

COILCELL – “Relentless”
THIS CALLING – “Disguise”
SKELL – “Don’t Speak”
AFTER THE FALL – “One Shot”
SKELL – “Slow Mo”
BASIS – “Flamethrower” (2000, Local Music Flashback)
SKELL – “Haven’t Decided Yet”
LIES, INC. – “Don’t Blink”

This Sunday night, we welcome the return of local modern rockers Lies, Inc.! The group will unveil their new singer, Scott Walk, and we’ll discuss their future plans and hear songs from them as well! We’ll also update Local Music News, and review Hybrid Ice’s CD, Mind’s Eye, in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Lies, Inc. returns to the “Homegrown Rocker,” this Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

In Local Music News…

Harrisburg-based alternative/hip hop/rock artists 7th Layer have inked a recording deal with Long Island-based label Island Palm Music. The group will reportedly issue a digital three-song release on the label first, followed by the first of a possible three CD’s with the label over the upcoming year. 7th Layer has been playing stages in Pennsylvania and the mid-Atlantic region over the past four years.

From the ashes of former Huntingdon County rockers Blackout has emerged a new group. Ganister features former Blackout members Ken Gray on vocals, Eric Smith on guitar and Randy Wilson on drums, with Dan Lukens playing bass. Ganister will play contemporary hard rock, and will make their onstage debut during next month’s Roar In the Mountains motorcycle rally at Hollidaysburg’s Legion Park.

And another Huntingdon County rock group has issued their first EP. Sound Of Silence (S.O.S.) has released a four-song disc called Heathenizm. The disc is available at the group’s shows.
