Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the April 11 edition of Rocky 99 and Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com) and WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).

Thanks to our guest on this week’s program, Rich “Allheart” Edmundson. We introduced listeners to Rich and his percussive brand of acoustic music. We heard several recorded songs from Rich, and he brought his guitar and demonstrated his unique performing style live! Along the way, we debuted new songs from Zupe and The Sunflower Spectacle, updated “Local Music News,” reviewed Adamo Drive’s Spirit of the Donkey Engine CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner,” and dug a 1997 song by State College’s Box from the archives for a “Local Music Flashback!” It was another action-packed show!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

FOUR DAY CRAWL – “Ike Willis Blues”
GANISTER – “Villain Inside”
RICH “ALLHEART” EDMUNDSON – “Wild Thing”
MYCENEA WORLEY – “Low”
RICH “ALLHEART” EDMUNDSON – (freestyle song) (performed live on the air)
ZUPE – “Dance for Me”
RICH “ALLHEART” EDMUNDSON – “Oak Grove Girl”
DAVID SINGLE – “In Your Eyes”
THE SUNFLOWER SPECTACLE – “Jetplane”

HOUR TWO:

ROADKILL – “Lost in the Woods”
VS. THE EARTH – “Still”
RICH “ALLHEART” EDMUNDSON – “Guitar Man” (performed live on the air)
ADAMO DRIVE – “Ain’t That Harder”
RICH “ALLHEART” EDMUNDSON – “Percussive Guitar” (performed live on the air)
BOX – “These Holes” (1997, Local Music Flashback)
RICH “ALLHEART” EDMUNDSON – “Dreamer”
THE RUSTLANDERS – “My Rock N Roll”

On our next program, we’ll be joined by Harrisburg metal rockers Waysted Sylence. We’ll learn about this group, their classic style of heavy rock and theatric live show; and hear recorded tracks from their CD’s to date. We’ll also update “Local Music News,” dig into the archive for another “Local Music Flashback,” and review “kāj’s” Cold Silence CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Waysted Sylence visits the “Homegrown Rocker,” this Sunday night at 8 PM!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

APR. 25 – THE ELDER STATESMEN OF LOCAL MUSIC SPECIAL

MAY 23 – MYCENEA WORLEY

Three area bands will be performing next Saturday at a free Earth Day event in Sinking Valley. Along with the music, there will be guest speakers, educational and eco-friendly demonstrations, children’s activities and more. Again, admission is free.

Speaking of E.V.K., the young Hollidaysburg-based rock band has a new bassist, as 14-year-old Emmett Eldred joins the group. He will make his debut with the group at this Saturday’s Earth Day Celebration in Sinking Valley.

A roster change for Fulton County rockers Way Down East, as guitarist Charles Harr has left the band due to career reasons, and bassist Horse Gelvin’s brother is replacing him. According to drummer Randy Wilson, Way Down East should be back on area stages by fall.

A change for Randy Wilson’s other band as well. Ganister has added a second guitarist, with former Hi-Tyde member Rob Sottile’s addition expanding the group’s roster to five members.

Altoona metalcore rockers Samara have announced a new singer and drummer. Taking over lead vocal duties is former Dragon Fire frontman Ron Riley, replacing Frank Rumfola, who has moved on to front Clearfield hardcore rockers Leave No Witness. Meanwhile, Tom Mock takes over behind the drum kit, replacing Shaun Shumac.

Guitarist Jody Earnest has parted ways with Altoona-based hard rockers I-Enemy, citing musical differences. The group is continuing as a four-piece.

Altoona’s Slacker Theory is seeking a new drummer to replace Rob Bonsell, who is stepping away from the group. Rob will continue to play drums with Slacker Theory until a replacement is found.
