Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 16 edition of Rocky 99 and Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com) and WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).

This week, with no guests or specials scheduled, we took the opportunity to get caught up on new recordings received at “Homegrown Rocker” headquarters in recent weeks. Thus, we debuted numerous new songs from The House Band, Joy Ike, Mike Vavrek, Ground Resonance, The Melodic Plague, Fredrico, HotWing Jones, A Beautiful View, Spotted Atrocious and Candlelight Red. We also reviewed Royal Benson’s (long)Drive CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner,” dug out a 1998 song by 7-9 & Out for a “Local Music Flashback,” and we spotlighted a song from former local singer/pianist Davina Sowers and her current Minnesota-based band, Davina & the Vagabonds, for the return of our “Across State Lines” feature. Wow, what a show!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

CHRIS VIPOND & THE STANLEY STREET BAND – “Shine”
MYSTERYTRAIN – “All the Way Home” (performed live at Cosmic Jam 6/09)
THE HOUSE BAND – “Leave It Alone”
MYCENEA WORLEY – “100 Days”
JOY IKE – “Give Me Truth”
MIKE VAVREK – “Down Here”
GROUND RESONANCE – “Hard to Breathe”
THE MELODIC PLAGUE – “Fell Swoop”
DAVINA & THE VAGABONDS – “St. Michael vs. the Devil” (live)
FREDRICO – “Don’t Let It Bring You Down”

HOUR TWO:

LIES, INC. – “Blink of an Eye”
MEAN STREAK – “Texas Makin Bake”
HOTWING JONES – “The Big Sea”
ROYAL BENSON – “Worth All the Time”
A BEAUTIFUL VIEW – “Her Heart’s in California”
7-9 & OUT – “Leave Me Alone” (1998, Local Music Flashback)
SPOTTED ATROCIOUS – “Temporary Fix”
A CRUCIFYING FEELING – “Faking Bliss”
CANDLELIGHT RED – “The Look”
44 MAG – “Disfigure”

On our next program, we’ll be joined by Harrisburg-based singer, songwriter and guitarist Mycenea Worley! We’ll get acquainted with Mycenea and learn her story, hear songs from her debut EP Love, and Mycenea will bring guitar and play a song or two live for us! We’ll also update “Local Music News,” dig into the archive for another “Local Music Flashback,” and review Harold Taddy’s Jovana’s Bells CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Mycenea Worley visits the “Homegrown Rocker,” this Sunday night at 8 PM!
