Has anybody tried out any of the Linux distributions for music production?
How is it?

I have not but would be interested in your take on it after you give it a try. _________________ The BMC

JAD loaded OK, but I had some trouble with the EMU APS audio system using JAD. Went to the developer site and it said: "Sorry, we are no longer developing or supporting JAD...blah, blah, blah.
I downloaded Ubuntu Studio 11 Linux distribution. Ubuntu should be around for awhile, since its a major Linux distro.

I'll let you all know how I make out with it. _________________ ...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time... |

I will keep updating this post with items of interest.
1. ubuntu studio loaded without a problem, but I'm not getting sound from the EMU APS.
2. Could not login as root and found out that they disable the root account on installation. Probably a good idea for unix beginners.
To enable the root account, open a terminal and type:
sudo passwd root
and then type in the appropriate passwords _________________ ...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time... |
