Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 25 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Since Christmas fell on a Sunday this year, it was logical for this week's program to be the annual "Homegrown Rocker" Christmas Special! We featured two hours of Christmas-themed music from local and regional bands and artists, from area musicians' takes on time-honored Christmas standards to their original Christmas compositions! We featured established area holiday favorites from Lords A Leaping, JR Mangan, Roadkill (bassist/singer Greg Majewsky's ode to an ill-fated Christmas dartboard) and Busted Monkey (a Jerry Springer-flavored Christmas ode). And we debuted new area holiday sounds from Tony Harlan, Kenny Murdick, K8, Dirty Thieving Gypsies, Flood City Worship, The Arts, spoken word from Jon Vickers-Jones and Corners Of Sanctuary. And we remembered Pittsburgh music icon B.E. Taylor (who passed earlier this year) with one of his Christmas renditions.

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE JELLYBRICKS - "Father Christmas"
TONY HARLAN - "Jingle This Too"
KENNY MURDICK - "Silent Night, Holy Night"
DON HUGHES - "We Wish You a Merry Christmas/Carol of the Bells/Go Tell It on the Mountain"
THE SERVELLO FAMILY - "Little Drummer Boy"
OVERHEAD - "We Three Kings"
K8 - "Wishlist"
LORDS A LEAPING - "The Bells of Christmas"
THE MARTINI BROS. - "Santa Claus Is Back in Town"
DIRTY THIEVING GYPSIES - "Blue Christmas"
FLOOD CITY WORSHIP - "Angels We Have Heard on High"
B.E. TAYLOR - "O Little Town of Bethlehem"
THE ARTS - "Home for the Holidays"

HOUR TWO:

JON VICKERS-JONES - "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (spoken word)
JR MANGAN - "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch"
THE WHATLEYS - "No More Holidays"
ROADKILL - "Santa Claus Is a Big Fat Jerk"
SHERRI MULLEN - "Please Come Home for Christmas"
MONSTER TRACK SUPERGROUP - "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"
JIMMY MOWERY - "This Year"
JACK SERVELLO - "Tonka Trucks and Tinker Toys"
JASON McINTYRE & FRIENDS - "Punxy"
BUSTED MONKEY - "Merry Christmas (Your Stuff's in the Yard)"
CORNERS OF SANCTUARY - "Joy to the World"
X-TERRA - "Is There Room in the Inn"

As we ring in New Year 2017 on Sunday, we'll close the book on 2016 from an area music scene perspective with our annual "Year In Review Special!" Starting with January and ending with December, we will review the events, shows, band formations and break-ups, personnel shufflings and other music scene happenings that defined 2016 in the area music community. And we will hear tunes from the area bands, musicians and recordings that helped define 2016 on this area's music scene! One of our most popular programs each year, join us as we bid adieu to 2016 on the "Homegrown Rocker" next Sunday night!

Upcoming guests and specials include:
