Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 18 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week was our annual Father's Day Special, where we honor area music scene fathers...as well as mothers, sons and daughters. We explored area music scene family traditions, spotlighting music featuring family members and sometimes two or more generations of family members on the same song! We also stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song by New York City-based father-and-son duo Generations!

Here is this week's playlist (with spotlighted family members in parentheses):

HOUR ONE:

DEREK WOODS BAND - "Much Better Now" (Derek - son)
TIM WOODS - "Deep Elum Blues" (Tim - father)
THE CLARKS - "I Will Dare" (Dave Minarik - father, Noan Minarik - son)
JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "March of the Sun King Warriors" (Jim Donovan - father, Oliver Donovan - son)
JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "Blend Into You" (Jim Donovan - father, Tupelo and Ella Donovan - daughters)
JOINT EFFORT - "Say You Will" (Jeff Clapper - father, Ryan Clapper - son)
FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "It's Just Me" (Jeff Clapper - father, Ryan Clapper - son, Felix Kos and Bob Watters - fathers)
FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Lady Liberty" (Dan Myers II - son)
FULL KILT - "Come Have a Drink with the Band" (Chris Myers - son)
CHRIS VIPOND & THE STANLEY STREET BAND - "Lonely Cells" (C'Jay Costello - son, Randy Servello - member of musical Servello family)
JACK SERVELLO - ""White Lady of the Buckhorn" (Jack - father)
BLOSSOM HOLLOW - "Read 'Em and Weep" (Richie Servello - son, Rob Berkheimer - son)

DIRTY MOJO BLUES BAND - "Made Cents at the Time" (Gary Strickland - father, Shawn Strickland - son)

LIZZIE YEEHAW - "Gypsy Way" (Lizzie - mother, Lili Yeehaw - daughter)
MAMA CORN - "Sing!" (Bruce Forr - father, Dylan Forr - son, Jeremy Nelson - son, Ben Nelson - father)
LIZ DE LISE - "Baby Bird" (Liz - daughter, Louis de Lise - father)

For our next program, we will revisit the mailboxes to check out new recordings that have arrived during recent weeks, so expect to hear a lot of new tunes! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside the state, and review Young Lungs' Reset CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

JULY 2 - COVER SONG SPECIAL
JULY 9 - DOUG FORSHEY
JULY 16 - 13 SAINTS
JULY 30 - MAMA CORN ("FISHIN' MUSICIAN" SPECIAL)
AUG. 13 - THE CROOKED LINE
AUG. 20 - MATT OTIS & THE SOUND

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

Bands and artists wanting to submit news items for "Local Music News" may email their news to homegrownrocker@gmail.com. Indicate "MUSIC NEWS" in the subject heading!

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on the show are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: Magnum Broadcasting, 315 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801; ATTN: Jim Price/Homegrown. Or drop the recordings off at the station during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9 AM – 5 PM. You can also email digital song files or inquiries about the show to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
