Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 1 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

Originally, we were to have band guests on the program, but unforeseen circumstances resulted in Small Town Horror Show's appearance being postponed until a future date. Instead, we continued to check out new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks on this week's program, and debuted new songs from Drive-By Magic Show and God Hates Unicorns. Along the way, we dug a 1987 song by Lyssa from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a tune from former Misfits singer Michale Graves. And we reviewed not one, but TWO new local CD's in "The Professor's CD Corner" - reviewing Jack Pyers' Dead on the Floor CD during the first hour, and Jon Smith's Voyages' Indeed CD in the second hour! A busy show!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

ZACH WADE & THE GOOD GRIEF - "Halfway Man"
NOBODY'S HEROES - "Scratch My Name on the World"
DRIVE-BY MAGIC SHOW - "Lost and Found"
DEREK WOODS BAND - "Much Better Now"
YAM YAM - "Stardog"
CHRIS VIPOND & THE STANLEY STREET BAND - "Art Becomes Life"
DAN STONEROOK - "Our Old Town"
JACK PYERS - "Can You Help Her"
FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Little Ears"
CHRIS BELL 100% BLUES - "Paycheck to Paycheck"
THE CLIFF LEGEND - "Kewl"

HOUR TWO:

NAILDRIVER - "Executioner"
NEVERWAKE - "Incinerate"
GOD HATES UNICORNS - "God Hates Unicorns"
JON SMITH'S VOYAGES - "Heard It Over Yonder"
SMALL TOWN HORROR SHOW - "Let It Go"
LYSSA - "Under Attack" (1987, Local Music Flashback)
MICHALE GRAVES - "Diabolical" (Across State Lines)
DOCTOR SMOKE - "The Seeker"
PHOBOS ANOMALY - "7 of Diamonds"
13 SAINTS - "Deep"

For our next program, we'll again keep an eye on the mailboxes and debut new music that has arrived lately. We will also update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to feature a song from an independent band or artist from outside the state, and review Phobos Anomaly's self-titled CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

OCT. 15 - Lady
OCT. 29 - Halloween Special
NOV. 5 - Calmly Poisoned
DEC. 10 - The Crooked Line
DEC. 24 - Christmas Special
