Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the January 21 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we returned to the mailboxes to check out new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks, and debuted plenty of new songs on the program. Receiving their first "Homegrown Rocker" airplay were new tunes from Lenina Crowne, Haela, From Ashes to New, Andy Mowatt's Steely Jam, Ted McCloskey, Felix & the Hurricanes and One Adam 12. We also updated "Local Music News," debuted a "new old" tune from 1998 by State College's A.M. Prophecy for this week's "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song from Cleveland's Oblivea, and reviewed Sterling Koch's GuitaR & B CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!" And in a show rarity, we pieced together a nearly 30-minute instrumental block featuring non-vocal numbers from Andy Mowatt's Steely Jam, Wine Of Nails, Ted McCloskey, Felix & the Hurricanes and Sterling Koch!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE DIRTY MOJO BLUES BAND - "Too Much Alcohol"
THE JUKEHOUSE BOMBERS - "Midnight Blues"
LENINA CROWNE - "Morse Code"
KEITH RANDALL - "River of Love"
THE STONEWALL VESSELS - "The Great Swindle"
THE TOMMY ROBERTS - "In the Fall"
HAELA - "I Guess"
ZACH WADE & THE GOOD GRIEF - "I'll Survive"
FROM ASHES TO NEW - "Through It All"
FALL OF ISHVALL - "Look to the Sky"
ANDY MOWATT'S STEELY JAM - "The Extra Dank"

HOUR TWO:

WINE OF NAILS - "Vibeland"
TED McCLOSKEY - "Violet Wilde"
FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Whirlwind" (live)
STERLING KOCH - "Summervibe"
ONE ADAM 12 - "Walking on the Moon"
A.M. PROPHECY - "Assemble" (1998, Local Music Flashback)
OBLIVEA - "Dream Land" (Across State Lines)
EMBER'S FALL - "No Escape"
HOREHOUND - "The Dead Don't Lie"

A familiar guest returns for our next program, as frequent-flyer guest Sterling Koch will join us via phone to discuss his latest undertakings. Sterling will enlighten us about and share tunes from his new jazz and R&B-flavored CD GuitaR & B, as well as his new band project Freeway Jam. Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig into the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and review Silver Screen's Inertia EP in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

The keynote speakers have been announced for next month's 22nd annual Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg. Pennsylvania native Diane Lockner of Triple Tiger Records, Sony Nashville will be the keynote speaker on Friday, February 23, while the president of TKO Agency in New York City, Andrew Goodfriend, will provide the keynote on Saturday, February 24. The Millennium Music Conference runs from Thursday, February 22 through Sunday, February 25 at the Park Inn by Radisson Harrisburg West in Mechanicsburg, and will feature the two-day business conference, panelists, mentoring, a trade show, and showcase performances by nearly 300 bands and artists. In band personnel moves, bassist Adam Schaffer is stepping away from northern PA-based heavy metal rockers Ember's Fall. Kyle Linscott takes over the group's bass duties.

A special benefit event will happen next month to help out an area musician. The band Star 69 will host the benefit dance at the Bedford American Legion in Bedford on Saturday, February 10, with proceeds helping out Ronnie Sheirer, the lead singer for Bedford area rock group Fueled By Ignorance, who recently underwent a major surgery and cannot earn income until he recovers.
