Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the February 18 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we kept it in the mailboxes to check out some more new local and regional recordings that have arrived lately. We played new tunes from The Arts, Matt Aquiline & the Dead End Streets, C. Scott & the Beltones, From Ashes to New and Jakob Vladimir. We also updated "Local Music News," dug into the archive for a 2005 number from Backstreet Law for this week's "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song from New Jersey's Hudson Falcons, and reviewed Master Sword's Shadow and Steel CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Whirlwind" (live)

IN LOCAL MUSIC NEWS...

A former dominant hard rock force on regional stages has announced a reunion weekend coming up in April. Backstreet Law is getting back together for two shows on the weekend of April 13 and 14. On Friday, April 13, they will perform at The Arena in State College, and on Saturday, April 14 they will perform at Goodfellas Warehouse in Pottsville. Formed in 1996, Backstreet Law performed shows up and down the East Coast and received a Jager Music sponsorship, before going their separate ways in 2007.

Popular State College-based group The Tommy Roberts has announced they will be going their separate ways after a four-and-a-half year run on area stages. The group's founding acoustic duo of Brian Cleary and Nate Cutshall will perform one of their final shows on March 4 at Elk Creek Cafe in Millheim, and one or two other farewell performances will be announced soon.

The Altoona-based band This Albatross is seeking a new bass player. Interested musicians should contact the group's guitarist, Phil Wagner, to set up an audition.

And we report sad news with the passing of Don Behler on February 11 following an 11-year battle with multiple myeloma. Don was 60. From Schuylkill County, Don sang and played rhythm guitar with several bands during his career, including Nightwing, Jackhammer, Nasty Dogs, Voice Of Reason, and most recently, Ousting Alice.
