Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 11 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

To get everyone fired up for the following weekend's St. Patrick's Day merriment, we presented the annual St. Patrick's Special! The area music scene got its Irish up for this week's program, as we heard from bands, artists and songs with an Irish theme or flavor! Along the way, we heard two new Irish-flavored tunes from Jack Servello & Bill Dann, we remembered the late Dan Myers Sr. by featuring his 2004 performance with the Irish Rattlers for a "Local Music Flashback," and we stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a Celtic-themed number from famed ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro, performed live last October at the State Theatre in State College!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE CLOVER - "Kiss Me I'm Irish Today"
THE CLOVER - "One Part Whiskey"
JACK SERVELLO & BILL DANN - "Lucky Charms of Love"

WINE OF NAILS - "The Blight of the Emerald Isle"

LUCKY LAD GREEN - "Irish Pride"
LUCKY LAD GREEN - "Bar Fight"
THE ARTS - "Celtic Tale"

On our next program, we celebrate two decades of area music on the FM airwaves every Sunday night with the "Homegrown Rocker" 20th Anniversary Special! It started on March 8, 1998 as a one-hour program broadcast from a second floor bedroom in a house on the corner of 5th Avenue and 40th Street in Altoona. It expanded to a two-hour program two years later, and grew and evolved over two decades and three radio stations to its present form, airing every Sunday night on 105.9 Qwik-Rock! We'll spotlight memories from the show's first 20 years - including a teenaged Lzzy Hale performing a keyboard ballad live on the air in 2000, an 8-minute acoustic monster jam of a Motorhead classic from 2005, an interview and fishing adventure with Mama Corn from last summer, and much more!

Upcoming guests and specials include:

MAR. 25 - Jeannine Higgins (Millennium Music Conference drawing winner)
APR. 8 - The Roof
