Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 30 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBXQ 94.3. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), “Everybody’s Hometown Team!”

This week, we closed the door on the past year with our three-hour 2007 Year In Review Special. Beginning with January, we proceeded through the past year on the area music scene, recapping the news, events, concerts, band break-ups and make-ups, personnel wheelings and dealings and more. And of course, we aired lots of music from local and regional bands and artists, including plenty of tunes that surfaced from the music scene in 2007. Along the way, we debuted new songs from Rise Phoenix Rise and Crow in the Snow. Our apologies for the gaffe near the show’s end, which omitted our recap of December; we will replay that segment during next Sunday’s show to provide proper closure to this week’s special and 2007!

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

MARK ALLEN PROJECT – “Happy New Year (Toss Me a Beer)”
9 PLANET TOUR - "You Got It"
RHYNE McCORMICK - "Train"

HELLO VIXEN - "Grandpa's Medicine"
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Little Ears”
VS. THE EARTH – “Lightswitch”
SPIRIT LOST – “Alone”
TED McCLOSKEY – “The Last Independent Record Store”
JACKSON MONSOUR – “Back to the Mountains”

HOUR THREE:

BACKSTREET LAW (TIL DECEMBER) – “Till December”
SILVER SUNDAY – “History Repeats”
ACALASIA – “Contradictory”

Next Sunday night, we welcome the first band guests of 2008, as Crow in the Snow visits the studio! Originally a studio project started by Beyond Reason bassist Jamie Smith, Crow in the Snow has developed into a full-blown band. We’ll meet the members, and hear tunes from the group’s first CD, Snow Flurries, Blizzards and Carrion. We’ll also update Local Music News, feature music from other area bands and artists, and more! Crow in the Snow visits the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!
