Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the January 20 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBXQ 94.3. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), “Everybody’s Hometown Team!”

What a busy show! Thanks to our guest this week, Gordon Tittsworth, the singer, guitarist and mastermind of Baltimore/York-based progressive hard rockers Images Of Eden (www.imagesofeden.com); for doing the 2 hour, 45 minute roadtrip in frigid temperatures to be the guest on this week’s program. Gordon was insightful and informative, as he discussed the latest Images Of Eden happenings, and got inside the group’s latest CD, Sunlight of the Spirit; and several lucky listeners phoned in to win copies! We also aired a phone interview with Hair Force One keyboard player Michael Troy, discussing his recent tour stint in South and Central America as a member of Swedish guitar legend Yngwie Malmsteen’s touring band! We also updated Local Music News, debuted a new song by Chris V. & the Stanley Street Band, and reviewed Codorus Cruise Line’s CD Down That Alley in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be read in the “Backyard Rocker” section of the message board area on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com.)

Here is this week’s playlist:

LIES INC. – “Atomic Skies”
THE FLAME SKY – “Alright”
IMAGES OF EDEN – “Ascension/Kaleidoscope”
CHRIS V. & THE STANLEY STREET BAND – “Media Controls the World”
IMAGES OF EDEN – “Beyond the Horizon”
ICARUS WITCH – “The Sky Is Falling”

HOUR TWO:

IMAGES OF EDEN – “Dream-Catcher”
IMAGES OF EDEN – “Sunlight of the Spirit Pt. I: Emerald Rain”
CODORUS CRUISE LINE – “Home for Hollywood”
IMAGES OF EDEN – “Sunlight of the Spirit Pt. II: I Remember When…”
IMAGES OF EDEN – “Sunlight of the Spirit Pt. III: Through October Skies”

Next Sunday night, our guests will be rising local hard rockers End Of The Sun! We’ll meet the band members, get inside the band and their story to date, and hear songs from their just-completed debut EP. We’ll hear songs from other bands and artists, and review White Witch’s Never Dies the Dream CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” End Of The Sun visits the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

FEB. 3 – Super Bowl Widow’s Special (the Ladies of Local Music)
FEB. 10 – Local Music Live in Concert
FEB. 24 – Millennium Music Conference Recap Special
MAR. 2 – 10th Anniversary Special w/Felix & the Hurricanes
MAR. 9 – Acoustic Jam Special
MAR. 23 – My Turning Point
MAR. 30 – Dollarz-n-Sense
APR. 6 – Ledbetter Heights
APR. 20 – Chris V. & the Stanley Street Band

In Local Music News…

The Pittsburgh-based country-rock force that helped kick off last summer’s “Alive @ Five” Summer Concert Series at Altoona’s Railroaders Memorial Museum has called it quits, at least for the time being. The PovertyNeck Hillbillies, who at one time were poised for country superstardom and who had become “the official band of the Pittsburgh Steelers,” have gone on indefinite leave after four members departed the band. Singer Chris Abbondanza, bassist Jeff Volek, guitarist David Guthrie and keyboardist Dave Cramer have left the band, leaving founding member and fiddle player Chris Higbee and drummer Ryan Lucotch as the only remaining members. According to an article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Higbee said it is his intention for the PovertyNeck Hillbillies to continue performing and entertaining fans in the future with a different lineup.

Another member of local hair-band rockers Hair Force One has received some music industry notoriety. Drummer Hugh G. was selected as a featured artist on Pearl Drums website for this month. The website features all three of Hugh’s drum kits and mentions Hair Force One as well.

And as of late last year, Indiana-based heavy rockers The Alluminati have taken a break indefinitely, as guitarist Kyle Cameron is devoting his attention to playing guitar with fellow Indiana rockers Solegion. The group has left the door open on returning to action down the road.
