Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 16 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBXQ 94.3.

What a busy show this week! During last month’s Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, the “Backyard Rocker” invited bands and musicians to submit recordings to the program. One of those recordings was selected in a drawing, and that recording’s creator won a guest slot on this week’s program. The recording drawn was the Soul Searching EP by Reading-based singer, songwriter and musician Valerie Nicole. We interviewed Valerie on site at the Conference, and aired that interview this week on the show, plus played all four songs from her EP! Also, since it was St. Patty’s Eve, we provided some Irish merriment in the form of Irish-flavored tunes from area bands and artists, including the Michael O’Brian Band, The Clover, Jerry Burskey, Dead Irish Blues, Mischief Brew and Tree! We also debuted new tunes from Ben Hardt and his Symphony, Chris V & the Stanley Street Band, Alicia Keister and Acalasia. And we reviewed not one, but two regional CD’s in “The Professor’s CD Corner;” Jana Losey’s Blocks during the first hour, and Jackson Monsour’s July 5th during the second hour. (Both reviews can be read in the “Backyard Rocker” section of the message board area on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com.) And contrary to how his voice sounded on the air, the show’s host was not on his death bed this week, he only sounded that way (@#$% cold!).

Again, you can download mp3’s of both hours of the broadcast on the home page of Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com. The mp3’s should be posted sometime on Monday.

Here is this week’s playlist:

Next Sunday night, Q94’s “Backyard Rocker” welcomes the return visit of local hard rockers My Turning Point! The original band project put together by former Stept On/Wake Up Screaming drummer Jim Bagrosky, My Turning Point has been frequenting regional live music stages more in recent months, plus working on new song material. We’ll get the band members’ thoughts on their progress, and hear songs from their debut CD Seclusion Serves Me Well. We’ll also update Local Music News, and review another local CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” My Turning Point returns to the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!
