Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 24 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBXQ 94.3.

Thanks to our guest this week, Ron Carnevali of the Johnstown Area Heritage Association (JAHA). Ron previewed the upcoming annual Johnstown Folkfest (www.johnstownfolkfest.org), happening over Labor Day weekend at Festival Park near downtown Johnstown. Ron gave us an overview of this year’s Folkfest, and we featured songs from many of the bands and artists taking the stage during Folkfest.

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Backyard Rocker Rocks”
FLIGHT 19 – “Hands”
JASON AND THE SCORCHERS – “Absolutely Sweet Marie”
BLUESMOON – “Little by Little” (live)
DWAYNE DOPSIE AND THE ZYDECO HELLRAISERS – “Thinking of You”
DUBMISSIVE – “Something to Believe”
DEL CASTILLO – “Vida Latina”
DENISE BALDWIN – “Standing in the Rain”
BIG SAM’S FUNKY NATION – “Funky People”
BARRENCE WHITFIELD – “Good Time” (live)

HOUR TWO:

THE MARAUDERS – “Alibi”
BEAGLE BROTHERS – “Doggone It, I’m Busted”
DEKE DICKERSON AND THE ECCO-FONICS – “Rockin’ Gypsy”
TIM DABBS – “Graveyard of the Alleghenies”
WEBB WILDER AND THE BEATNECKS – “The Devil’s Right Hand” (live)
RUSTY GUN REVIVAL – “Smoke”
STACIE COLLINS – “It Ain’t Love”
JASON RICCI AND NEW BLOOD – “I’m a New Man”

Next Sunday night, we present the “Fast Forward Special.” During this special, we’ll feature double-shots; the first song being an early tune from a local musician or band, and the second tune a more recent number involving that same musician or band! We’ll note how some bands’ styles have evolved or changed over the years, and compare and contrast musicians’ past and present exploits! It should make for interesting listening – check out the “Fast Forward Special” edition of the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

SEPT. 7 – Larry Nath
SEPT. 14 – The Lampshades
SEPT. 21 – DeltaPalooza Preview Special
OCT. 5 – Acoustic Jam Special
OCT. 26 – Satanic Bat/Halloween Special
NOV. 2 – Lies, Inc.
NOV. 16 – Clint Carothers/The Front

The "Backyard Rocker" is happy to announce its continued partnership with "The Underground TV," the local/regional music television show airing on WATM ABC 23 Friday mornings at 1:30 AM and on WWPC Fox 8 Sunday mornings at 1:30 AM. Check out "The Underground" as it features different unsigned local and regional bands every week; and watch for "Backyard Rocker" updates on the show each week as well! Their new television season is under way!
