Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the Oct. 26 edition of Rocky 104.9's new weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM during Pittsburgh Steelers football season. (The show will air from 8 to 10 PM after the Steelers' season concludes.)

This week was our annual Halloween Special. For the show’s two hours, we spotlighted local and regional bands and songs with a Halloween theme, mixed with a few classic horror movie soundbytes along the way. We also updated Local Music News, and flashed back to 2002 for a song by former area rockers Saucemonster.

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

EMILY’S TOYBOX – “Creeps”
VS. THE EARTH – “Psycho”
JASON MARTINKO REVUE – “Gone the Way of Flesh”
JOHN CHARNEY w/WHITE MOJO – “I Put a Spell on You”
PENSIVE FEAR – “Behind Enemy Lines”
SPIRIT LOST – “Misery of a Wounded Heart”
ACALASIA – “Maniac Parade”
SHERRI MULLEN – “Mask”
THE AVANTGARDE – “Demon Eyes”
CHAPTER 5 – “Buried”
JOHN LYONS – “Halloween (All Year Round)”

HOUR TWO:

FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Black Widow”
ROADKILL – “Wiccan Blues”
WHITE WITCH – “Slaughter in Salem”
ICARUS WITCH – “House of Usher”
COINMONSTER – “There Should Be a Test”
SAUCEMONSTER – “Lost Control” (2002, Local Music Flashback)
DEJA VUDOO – “Skeleton in My Closet”
THE GRIMM – “Flatline Part II”
SATANIC BAT – “A Generation of Digital Drones vs. Jazzbot 6000”

Next Sunday night, with no guests scheduled, we will again deliver maximum local and regional music over the show’s two hours, and take the opportunity to debut more new area recordings that have arrived at “Homegrown Rocker” headquarters in recent weeks. Along the way, we’ll update Local Music News, and review The Clover’s debut CD, 13 Steps, in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” A jam-packed two hours of local and regional music on the “Homegrown Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

NOV. 16 – CLINT CAROTHERS
NOV. 30 – LOCAL MUSIC LIVE IN CONCERT SPECIAL
DEC. 21 – CHRISTMAS SPECIAL w/JOHN CIMINO (LORDS-A-LEAPING)
DEC. 28 – 2008 YEAR IN REVIEW SPECIAL

Pittsburgh R&B favorite Billy Price has finished work on a new CD with French blues guitarist Fred Chapéllier. The new CD, called Night Work, is slated for release in Europe on DixieFrog Records next May, with an American release of the disc soon afterward. The album features a guest appearance from Nighthawks harmonica player Mark Wenner.

New local independent theatre organization Love & Light Productions is staging a production of The Rocky Horror Show in State College this coming week. The production will take place at The Brewery in State College this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night. Directed by Love & Light Productions founder Emily Romani, this production of Rocky Horror will feature several State College area musicians, including most of the roster of The Clover as cast members and in the pit band.

Twenty-five years after playing their first sold-out show at the old Coaches Inn in Greenwood, one of the Altoona area’s most celebrated rock bands, The Front, is presenting a special 25th anniversary reunion show during Thanksgiving weekend. The show will happen on Saturday night, November 29, at the Bavarian Hall in Altoona. Singer Bobby Gates, guitarist John McKelvey, bassist Randy Rutherford, keyboardist Harold Hayford and drummer Clint Carothers will pull all the stops in what likely will be the group’s final reunion performance. Keep listening to Rocky 104.9 in the coming weeks for ticket information, and listen to the “Homegrown Rocker” on Sunday, November 16, as guest Clint Carothers discusses the reunion show.

Area rockers Spirit Lost were in Providence, Rhode Island this past weekend as part of the Rock The Ink Concert, a three-day concert event featuring such national names as Godsmack, Saliva, Sevendust, Drowning Pool, Shadows Fall, Bret Michaels, Rehab and more. Spirit Lost helped kick things off Sunday afternoon during the final day of the event. The group released their first full-length CD in conjunction with the Rock The Ink event, and the CD will be available at the group’s shows in the Altoona area in coming weeks.
