Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the Nov. 16 edition of Rocky 104.9's new weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM during Pittsburgh Steelers football season. (The show will air from 8 to 10 PM after the Steelers' season concludes.)

Thanks to our guest this week, Clint Carothers, for a fun and interesting two hours! Clint has been at work in the studio working on some song material, and we heard some of the results of that work over the course of the program. Clint is also known as drummer for one of Altoona’s most popular rock bands during the 80’s and early 90’s, The Front; and he filled us in on all the details about The Front’s 25th anniversary reunion show, happening Saturday night, Nov. 29, at Altoona’s Bavarian Hall. We featured a few songs by The Front, including their 1983 regional hit “Girl Like You;” and we even broke out a 1978 song from Clint’s first band, Black Diamond, for an additional “Local Music Flashback!” Along the way, we debuted a new tune from Xhibition, and reviewed The Jellybricks’ Goodnight to Everyone CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE RUSTLANDERS – “Holdin’ Out”
TED McCLOSKEY – “Out with the Old Queens”
CLINT CAROTHERS & FRIENDS – “Melancholy Melody”
DAVE BLACKLEDGE – “She’s Not Bad for an Old Bar Hag”
THE FRONT – “Still the Rain”
VS. THE EARTH – “Lightswitch”
CLINT CAROTHERS & FRIENDS – “Marseilles”
RISE PHOENIX RISE – “Boxing Josh”
XHIBITION – “Bad Truth Good Lie”

HOUR TWO:

THE FLAME SKY – “The Price You Pay”
ZUPE & NICHOLS – “Caterpillar”
THE FRONT – “Battleground for the Brave”
THE JELLYBRICKS – “Put It Down”
CLINT CAROTHERS & FRIENDS – “Mr. J”
BLACK DIAMOND – “Back Street Lover” (1978, Local Music Flashback)
THE FRONT – “Girl Like You”
CLINT CAROTHERS & FRIENDS – “Emma”

Next Sunday night, with no guests scheduled, we will again use the opportunity to feature some new recordings that have arrived at “Homegrown Rocker” headquarters in the past few weeks, and again yearn to cram as much local and regional music into two hours as we can! We’ll also update Local Music News, and review another new local CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” It’s maximum local and regional music on the “Homegrown Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

NOV. 30 – LOCAL MUSIC LIVE IN CONCERT SPECIAL
DEC. 14 – XHIBITION
DEC. 21 – CHRISTMAS SPECIAL w/JOHN CIMINO (LORDS-A-LEAPING)
DEC. 28 – 2008 YEAR IN REVIEW SPECIAL
