Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 3 edition of Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).

With no guests scheduled this week, we made full use out of the opportunity to break out some of the numerous recordings that have arrived at “Homegrown Rocker” headquarters in recent weeks. We debuted a plethora of new tunes from Four Day Crawl, Little Buddy, Skyfall, Coilcell, Styll, Ripe, Skell, Flux Capacitor, Seas We Fear to Sail and Ninetail. We also updated Local Music News, and checked out a 1986 tune from Erie rockers Mars for a Local Music Flashback. In addition, we reviewed Chris Vipond and the Stanley Street Band’s I CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” Again, another busy week!

We'll also update Local Music News, rummage the local music archive for a Local Music Flashback, plus review another local CD or two in "The Professor's CD Corner." More local and regional music to the max on the “Homegrown Rocker,” this Sunday night!

In Local Music News…

This year’s line-up has been announced for the Summer Sounds of Jazz concert series, taking place on select Fridays throughout the summer at downtown Altoona’s Curtin Plaza. New Jersey southern-styled blues and jazz performers South Saturn Delta kick off the free concerts on Friday, June 5. They will be followed by Euphoria on June 19, the Randy Jackson Jazz Band on July 10, Tommy Wareham & the Intrigues on July 24, Jazz In Your Face on August 7, and New Jersey’s Blue Number Nine on August 21. Proceeds from the concerts help out the Blair County Arts Foundation, Altoona Community Theatre and the Altoona Area Public Library.

One of the Altoona area’s most popular duos is calling it quits. Rock & Rye have announced that they will be playing their final show this Thursday night at the Belmar Hotel in Altoona, ending an eight-year run on area stages. “Rye,” Ryan Clark, is planning to put together a new full-band project in the coming months. The pair are parting on friendly terms.
