Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the July 5 edition of Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).

Thanks to The Underground Television for the use of their studio again this week, as we were joined by our guests, Eric D and his group The Busted Drunks (www.myspace.com/thebusteddrunks). Eric, Jordan and Elmer enlightened us about The Busted Drunks and their weekly Tuesday night folkfest at the McKee Tavern, and we heard several songs recently recorded by the group. The Busted Drunks also brought instruments and performed two songs live on the air. In addition, we updated Local Music News; played new songs by Nate Myers & the Aces and the Mark DeRose Band, reviewed Nick Finochio’s Based on a True Story CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner,” and flashed back to 1992 to hear a tune by State College’s The Hipsters for a Local Music Flashback.

In Local Music News…

Several area bands are seeking or have found singers...Lies, Inc. is in search of a new lead singer, following the departure of Bob Lee. Indiana-based power trio Rapid Fire is also seeking a lead singer.

Candlelight Red has found their new singer to replace Greg Locke, who is leaving the band due to career and family reasons. Their new singer is Ryan Hoke, formerly the frontman for northern Pennsylvania heavy rockers Hyphema and Slant 6. Hoke made his official debut with Candlelight Red last weekend.

Former UUU and Pop Shop lead singer Eric Klein has moved full steam ahead with his New Jersey-based original music project, Days Before Tomorrow. The group recently unveiled their first full-length CD, and have garnered attention on the west coast, including an upcoming performance at the 2009 Los Angeles Music Awards in November. Their CD has been nominated for Record of the Year at that show. Days Before Tomorrow's sound is described as a middle ground between the traditional progressive rock styles of '80s-era Yes and Rush, and modern progressive styles like Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater.

Northeast Pennsylvania's Pan.a.ce.a, is recording their new album with producer Bret Alexander of the Badlees at Saturation Acres in Danville. Entitled We the Broken, the disc is slated for an October release.
