Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 6 edition of Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM.

Once again, we spent this program getting acquainted with more new tunes that arrived at “Homegrown Rocker” headquarters in recent weeks. We debuted new tunes from The Knobs, Little Buddy, Doppler Affect, Shattered Ice, The Sketties, Rob Carlton, Flux Capacitor and Days Before Tomorrow. In addition, we updated Local Music News, reviewed The Clarks’ new Restless Days CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner,” and ventured back to 1987 to hear a tune by State College’s Stolyn Hours for a Local Music Flashback.

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

ACALASIA – “The Endless Waltz”
SLACKER THEORY – “Shake”
THE KNOBS – “2 Americas”
KEN GRAY – “Saving Grace”
LITTLE BUDDY – “Never A Bad Time”
THE RUSTLANDERS – “Blind Faith”
DOPPLER AFFECT – “Where Are You Now”
SHATTERED ICE – “Shatter the Ice”
THE SKETTIES – “Junior”
THE LAMPSHADES – “Scotland”
ROB CARLTON – “Rip It Up”

HOUR TWO:

RIK GOLDEN – “Brown Eye Mary”
DUBMISSIVE – “Rebel Song”
GLENN PAVONE & THE CYCLONES – “Shake That Thing”
THE CLARKS – “The Clowns”
FLUX CAPACITOR – “The World”
STOLYN HOURS – “Modern Man” (1987, Local Music Flashback)
DAYS BEFORE TOMORROW – “You’re Not the One”
OURAFTER – “Push the Pill”
THE EMBALMED – “Heartworm”
AFTER THE FALL – “One Shot”

This Sunday night, our guests in the studio will be Altoona-based metal rockers Samara. We’ll get acquainted with the band members and learn their story, hear tracks from their debut EP The Beginning Of Your End plus newer songs. We’ll also update Local Music News, feature music from a past band for a Local Music Flashback, and review Ninetail’s Half Truths and Hand Grenades CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” Samara visits the “Homegrown Rocker” this Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

SEPT. 20 – MATT SHEEDY/THE RUINS (new air time 9-11 PM)
SEPT. 27 – STERLING KOCH (V.I.H. BAND)
OCT. 4 – (NO SHOW DUE TO STEELERS FOOTBALL)
OCT. 11 – HOMEGROWN ROCKER 1ST ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL
OCT. 18 – DUBMISSIVE
OCT. 25 – WHITE WITCH (HALLOWEEN SPECIAL)

With football season arriving, Rocky 104.9 will again be broadcasting Pittsburgh Steelers football games this year, and as a result, the “Homegrown Rocker” will be airing an hour later through the season, from 9 to 11 PM, beginning September 20. And due to Steelers Sunday night contests, the program will not air on October 4 or November 29.

In Local Music News…

Another change for the crew of the “Party Plane”…Flight 19 has announced that Scott Imler, who recently took over bass duties after the departure of Tim Kelly, is himself now leaving the group to devote more time to family and career. His last show with the group was this past Friday night at the Bullpen Lounge in Tyrone. Replacing Scott on bass will be his bandmate from The Edge, Mark Triforo.

East Freedom rockers On The Run are seeking a new guitar player, as Broc Phillips has announced he is stepping away from the group.

And a special benefit concert is being organized for early November to say thanks to an area band and raise money to help them on an important road trip in January. Organized by several of their musical peers, the benefit in honor of Felix & the Hurricanes will happen on Sunday, November 8, at 30 Something in Greenwood. The benefit will celebrate the Hurricanes’ 20 years on area stages, thank them for their constant support of other charitable concerts, and raise some funds to help the group when they travel to Memphis in January to represent western Pennsylvania in the International Blues Challenge. The show will start at 6 PM, and feature performances from The Hawks, the Tony Mollick Project, the Hurricanes themselves and a jam session.
