Always a good idea.

There are "rescue" groups for most breeds. Here is one for Great Danes.

Just google "great dane rescue" for more.

Or "petfinder"

Good Luck !

I got mine in Dixonville aswell, that's where I would check if shell_shooter has the number. They are great dogs and mine stays in the house with no problems. Hey shell_shooter is yours a Blue ?

Don't get me wrong, I love dogs and I think that Danes are great animals, but... they can be VERY high maintenance. Good friends of mine got a beautiful Great Dane puppy about 2 years ago... she's had numerous tumors removed and is awaiting a second knee replacement now. Again, I love their dog, but with extremely costly issues like that I would be hesitant to buy one. Dane's life spans are also a good bit shorter than most dogs, around 7 years.

You do have to watch how you raise them especially the first year you got to start them on puppy food then move them to adult food fast these dogs grow so fast you have to kinda slow there grow the rate, more or less you are not even suppose to let them run for the first year or so till there muscles and cartlage catch up to there bones "its a whole thing i can't remember the whole procedure" But do your research don't get a Great Dane cause they are big and cool looking. All tho they are great dogs and very protective they are kinda needy .They like allot of attention and when this thing shits in the yard well need i say more
