Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 13 edition of Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM during Pittsburgh Steelers football season on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).

It was a jam-packed two hours of local and regional music, features and giveaways! We debuted new songs this week from The Delve, Black-n-Blues, The Sketties, Karen & Amy Jones, Rotten Belly Blues, A Crucifying Feeling and Mindspine. We also updated Local Music News, and recalled a 1997 tune by Toddo for a “Local Music Flashback.” We reviewed not one, but two regional CD’s in “The Professor’s CD Corner”; checking out Jimmy Adler’s Swing It Around CD during the first hour, and Doppler Affect’s Which Way to Go CD in the second hour. And on top of all of that, since it is the Christmas season and the show host was in the giving mood, lucky listeners called in to win local music CD and T-shirt prize packs; each pack including at least five discs from Spirit Lost, White Witch, Pan.a.ce.a, Victory In Heaven Band, Thunderbox, Kelly Bell Band, Dirty Looks, Codorus Cruise Line, Four Day Crawl, This Calling and more, plus T-shirts from White Witch and Way Down East. Wow, what a show!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

TONY HARLAN – “Jingle This”
GANISTER – “Villain Inside”

KAREN & AMY JONES – “Ride”

THUNDERBOX – “Simple Revolution”
ROTTEN BELLY BLUES – “Rollin’ in It (Big Money)”
DOPPLER AFFECT – “Goin’ Home”

In Local Music News…

A special benefit concert is happening in State College this Monday night, December 14, to help out Emily’s Toybox drummer Wade Corbin. The show, called "Wadestock,” will take place at Cafe 210 in State College, and starts at 9 PM. The concert will include performances from the bands Emily's Toybox, Velveeta, My Hero Zero, Loudmouth, Mr. Hand, Lucky You and new State College metal rockers Collapse. A few acoustic performers may also be taking the stage. There will be a raffle for a number of items donated by State College area businesses. Wade suffered a severe head injury in a car crash on Nov. 19. He has been making progress since the accident; for updates on Wade's condition, visit www.emilystoybox/wade. Monies raised at “Wadestock” will help with his medical expenses.

Another benefit show will take place next Saturday, December19 at the Huntingdon Lions Club outside of Huntingdon, starting at 5 PM. The benefit will help out the surviving family of Nate Kiss, who recently passed away. The bands that are scheduled to perform are Nasty Habit, The Whatleys, Threeway and a special "reunion" appearance by Anything Jane and Camino Sky. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

A memorial jam session in memory of Johnstown drummer Chris Klym will take place on Sunday, December 27 at Ace’s Lounge in Johnstown. The jam will start at 5 PM, and feature performances from The Jeff Perigo Opus, Flowerchild, The Chi, The Desperadoes, Ribbon Grass, Frankie & the Nomads, Who's Your Daddy, The South Side Strays, Tree, The Johnstown Classic Rockers, and more. Admission is free; however, donations will be accepted to be given to a charity in Chris Klym’s name. Chris, who drummed for a variety of Johnstown groups over the years, passed away unexpectedly on November 27 at the age of 56.

Bad Daze is seeking a new bass player to replace Paul Rainey, who is leaving the band in January to follow his career path to North Carolina. Any available bass players interested in the position may find out more by visiting Bad Daze’s website, Myspace page or [url.www.rockpage.net[/url].

Pittsburgh’s Norman Nardini has been in the studio finishing production on the new JJ Burner project. Former members of the Powers Run Band, drummer Mike Flocari, guitarist Sam Satler, bassist Greg and lap-steel player Bob Powers are joined by Pittsburgh guitar legend Warren King and vocalist Mark Stutso. Pittsburgh blues crooner favorite Shari Richards appears as a guest vocalist on several songs.
