Okay I want to take some kind of vocal lessons, I called around some people in Altoona and they were mostly older men and women that want to do the theory of music and classical for church choires and such. I'm all for that but I'm not for that . I want to sing and have fun with it and not suck so bad at it at the same time. I'm not very good but I also know I am not horrible. I think with some tweeking and lessons could be better. I am a female but I like to sing more male based songs. Tool, My Chemical, 30 Seconds to Mars and some Cranberries , more that style than classical. So if anyone knows anyone willing to give some lessons at a reasonable cost, please let me know!!

Ok when you say not very good, what do you mean?
Are you able to tell if you are singing the right pitch or not? If yes, then that is great start. If you are tone deaf, then there probably is no hope. (Tone deaf should really be called pitch deaf)
I would not rule out the classical teachers. It is my opinion that exposure to different styles will make you a better musician over all. You will probably learn some basic things like
-warm ups
-technique
-breathing
-range expansion
-singiing parts and harmonizing
None of those things can hurt you. |

Thanks for the advice... and I don't think that I'm tone deaf, I can hold a cord and can define different pitchs and notes, but I don't know were to go with it after that. I will deffeintly take what you said in to consideration... thanks!!! |
