Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice here. I'd really like to get a fuller lead tone, but I'm not totally sure how to go about achieving this. Here is what I'm running:

Les Paul-Morley Wah-Line 6 POD XT Live (for efx only)-Mesa Single Recto

Should I buy an EQ pedal, and if so, what type of setting should I use?? Any advice would be really helpful.

what kind of speaker cab are you running? or is this a combo amp?
imo the ballsiest full tones come out of a marshall 1960A cab regardless of what type of head or effects you have

I'm running through a Peavey cab with Sheffields. I'm looking to get a new cab soon, I was considering a Mesa cab but I'll look into a Marshall 1960A cab. Thanks.

i dunno if anyone else will agree with me but i have found that if you have a "bright" amp such as your mesa, gt1275 speakers work better as i have found that greenbacks just make for a too "shrill" sound.
i am running a tsl-100 into a 1960A with gt12-75's
in the past i ran a b52 at-100 into a 1960ahw with greenbacks and that was also a good combination as the b52 head is not so bright.

I haven't worked with the POD XT but I have heard them & they seem like pretty good units. You should be able to program a patch with the mids boosted in the EQ and a little delay & reverb to fatten things up and overall just a little more output to push the signal a bit. Don't use too much delay or you can make things too muddy. That Mesa with a little push from the EQ should give you a nice lead tone when tweaked right. As far as cabinets, all depends on your settings, etc. I use to run a Marshall 1960 but found Mesa Recto cabs were fuller sounding & delivered more punch & definition, but again all depends on your rig & your ears. Lots of good cabs out there, just have to find what works for you.

I did create a patch with a slight mid boost, I may not have boosted them enough. I'll tweak it some more, and see how it goes. Thanks for the input, guys.

I firmly believe that there is nothing more powerful than an EQ. I have really learned the truth of this over the past year from spending time recording bands and fixing guitar sounds. If you want to change your tone and you have a nice guitar and amp, EQ will get you just about anywhere you want to go. The trick is, you have to spend a lot of time getting to know how each band of the EQ affects your overall tone to get the most of an equalizer. I'd put one on both ends of the chain. You can get old DOD 7 band eq pedals for a song on ebay but the switches go bad. I've read good things about boss eqs, and they can be had cheaply as well.
