Hi, folks. I'm going to be buying a new amp soon, just thought I'd get some opinions. I'm interested in the Engl Fireball 60, though I haven't played one. I can't find anyone that carries it, so I've had to look up demos on Youtube. I also like the Soldano Avenger, based on demos. Have any of you out there tried either of these amps, and if so, what's your opinion of them?? Also, would any of you recommend a different amp?? _________________ Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud. |

If you have the cash to buy the FireBall 100,go for it instead of the 60. I had the sixty, don't get me wrong,it's a good amp but the 100 sounds better to me. It's more in the line of the Powerball without all the extras. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/musicnaildriver

Thanks for the input!! I think the price difference is around $300, which isn't too bad. The only real issue I have is that there's 1 EQ for both channels. Did you have any issues with this?? _________________ Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud. |

Well, with the 60 I really didn't because I only used the gain, not much clean channel usage with me. When I had the Powerball,it had eq for both but there again, didn't use the clean channel much, lol. Engl makes great amps. If you really want to spend some cash,go check out the Invader 100....if you're looking for KILLER metal tone, this amp will rip your nuts off and shove them down your throat!! It is one bad ass amp. Terry at Guitar's and Stuff used to have one in stock,I haven't been there for quite some time but he is an Engl dealer.

One more thing I really liked about the Engl amps I owned, they have two separate master volume channels......I used one for rhythm and then used the second for a lead boost. It really made solos sound silky and smooth. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/musicnaildriver

I looked at the Invader, it looks like a great amp. Too bad I can't afford it right now, lol. I'm looking at the Fireball 60 or 100. _________________ Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud. |

Yea,the Invader is pricey. No matter which one you get,it'll kick ass...after all,it's an Engl. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/musicnaildriver

If you're serious about an Engl, it would really be worth it to call Terry at Guitars 'n Stuff and make a pilgrimage up to Pennsylvania to try one. To my ears, the Engls sort of walk in between the British sound and the American sound, which ultimately makes them a pretty versatile amp. You could play everything from metal to country on one. I'd describe them as "glassy," but with the ability to get pretty aggressive. _________________ "He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film. |

How is this a selling point, exactly?
