Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 13 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we previewed the sixth annual Patched Together: A Day of Music to Benefit the Healing Patch (http://patchedtogether.com), which happens at Altoona's Bavarian Aid Society on Saturday, November 19. We mt up with and discussed Patched Together with the event's chairman, Kent Tonkin, in a conversation recorded at Altoona's Railroad City Brewing Company. We went over the details of the event, and featured music from several of the bands involved in this year's event! We also debuted new songs from The Crew of the Half Moon and The Arts, updated "Local Music News," dug a 1988 number by Bad Lee White from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed The Ethan Jano Band's self-titled CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

MAKING STATE - "All I Need"
SHANNON & THE MERGER - "Long Way Down"
THE PATCHED TOGETHER ALL-STARS - "Patched Together"
BIG ATLANTIC - "Count Me In"
JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "Blend Into You"
FLIGHT 19 - "Hands"
THE SITCH - "Hillbilly Psycho"
BREE GEARHART - "Get Bright Moonlight"
CANDLELIGHT RED - "The Look"

HOUR TWO:

CRAWDAD JOE - "Bringaround"
MISS MELANIE & THE VALLEY RATS - "Something's Got a Hold on Me"
TIME WITH DONNY BURNS - "Bill the Wino"
THE ETHAN JANO BAND - "Broken Pieces"
CHRIS VIPOND & THE STANLEY STREET BAND - "Armchair Preachers"
BAD LEE WHITE - "The Deal (Goes Down)" (1988, Local Music Flashback)
THE CREW OF THE HALF MOON - "U-235"
THE ARTS - "Medieval Memoir"

On our next program, we return to the mailboxes to check out new recordings that have arrived in recent days, meaning we will debut plenty of new tunes from local and regional bands and artists! Along the way, we will dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside the state, and review Nobody's Heroes' One Foot on the Gas, the Other in the Grave CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

NOV. 27 - Derek Woods Band (rebroadcast)
DEC. 4 - Don Hughes
DEC. 11 - Greg Mudzinsky (Happy Valley Christmas)
DEC. 25 - Christmas Special
JAN. 1 - 2016 Year in Review Special
JAN. 15 - Nobody's Heroes

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

In Local Music News...

Cresson-based singer and songwriter Josh Gallagher has advanced to the final 12 on NBC Television's popular talent search program The Voice. On the November 7 edition, which began the live audience voting phase of the program, 20 finalists were whittled down to 12 from the four teams of contestants. By audience voting, Josh was retained to continue on his Voice journey as a member of "Team Adam," the team headed by Adam Levine.

A founding member of popular area rockers Flight 19 is semi-retiring from live stage action. Guitarist and singer John McKelvey - whose live music resume spans 40 years - is stepping away from the electric band incarnation of Flight 19, but will continue to perform with the band's acoustic edition. John will continue to work with engineering and recording area musicians' original music projects. His last show with the electric Flight 19 lineup will be on Saturday, November 19 at Altoona's Four Dees Lounge.
