Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 27 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

When we first featured our recent interview with members of the Derek Woods Band in October, technical problems forced the show to air one hour later than usual, which prevented many listeners from hearing the interview. So we re-aired our conversation with Derek Woods and Joshua Carns - recorded on location outside Fox's Pizza Den in Ligonier during the Fort Ligonier Days Festival in October - on this week's program. We learned about the Derek Woods Band and their career to date, and featured songs from the group's new EP, Taste. Along the way, we debuted a new Christmas tune from Don Hughes, dug a 1981 number by State College's W.C. Billhick from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from Berkeley Springs, West Virginia bluegrassers Marv Ashby & High Octane, and reviewed The Arts' Ethnicity CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

FLIGHT 19 - "Crank It Up"
FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Issues"
THE DEREK WOODS BAND - "Go All Night"
PURE CANE SUGAR - "My Favorite Song"
THE DEREK WOODS BAND - "Much Better Now"
CROSSROADS DUO - "Dimples"
DON HUGHES - "We Three Kings"
DOUG IRWIN - "Rattle the Cage"
BLACK RIDGE - "Down the Road"

HOUR TWO:

ADAM ERNST - "Raised in a Farm Town"
TIM WOODS - "Deep Ellum Blues"
THE DEREK WOODS BAND - "Don't Look Away"
THE ARTS - "Arabian Souls"
THE DEREK WOODS BAND - "Big Truck"
W.C. BILLHICK - "Hot Time Boogie" (1981, Local Music Flashback)
MARV ASHBY & HIGH OCTANE - "White Freightliner Blues" (Across State Lines)
AUGUST ROOM - "Happy Christmas"

On our next program, our guest will be Don Hughes! An Altoona native now based in Pittsburgh, Don recently released his second instrumental CD, the holiday season album It's Christmas. We will discuss the album and Don's career to date, and hear tracks from the CD as well! Along the way, we will debut a few new tunes, dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and review the holiday compilation CD Happy Valley Holidays in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

DEC. 11 - Greg Mudzinski (Happy Valley Christmas)
DEC. 25 - Christmas Special
JAN. 1 - 2016 Year in Review Special
JAN. 15 - Nobody's Heroes

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)
