Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 11 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

As happened last week, this week's program followed a holiday season-geared theme, as we welcomed guest Greg Mudzinski and his son Cooper into the studio to discuss Happy Valley Holidays, a Christmas season compilation album issued last winter that features holiday music from a variety of Centre region-based bands and artists, and whose sale proceeds benefit the international charity organization Direct Relief. We discussed the album and its creation, and featured songs from the CD as well! Along the way, we dug a 1996 number by Rude Dawg from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from northern Virginia-based Americana/jam rockers the Plank Stompers, and reviewed Don Hughes' It's Christmas CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "Take Me Home"
TED McCLOSKEY - "A Stranger Rides into Town"
AUGUST ROOM - "Happy Christmas"
MILEUNDER - "Spacegirl"
OVERHEAD - "We Three Kings"
NICK MILLER PROJECT w/GABE GREEN - "Shoulda Known"
LADY FEATURING DUSTE DECAY - "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"
THE LAMPSHADES - "Gotta Do"
INSIDE OUT - "Giving Myself Away"

HOUR TWO:

RIK GOLDEN - "Cresson Gutter Bums"
SHIFT SEVEN - "It Was Strange"
PURE CANE SUGAR - "O Come, O Come Emmanuel"
DON HUGHES - "Hark the Herald Angels Sing"
LADY - "What Child Is This?"
RUDE DAWG - "Backstage Ladies" )1996, Local Music Flashback)
RACHEL MOON - "Ave Maria"
PLANK STOMPERS - "Carbon Queen" (Across State Lines)
FIGHTING FOR JAMES - "Perfect Life"

After a few weeks away from the mailboxes, we will return to them to see what new local and regional music recordings have recently arrived on our next program. That means we will feature a number of new songs on next week's edition! We will also update "Local Music News," dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside the state, and review Sherri Mullen's Rise CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

DEC. 25 - Christmas Special
JAN. 1 - 2016 Year in Review Special
JAN. 15 - Nobody's Heroes
JAN. 22 - Made It to the Majors Special
FEB. 5 (Super Bowl Sunday) - Ladies of Local Music Special
MAR. 5 - Millennium Music Conference Recap

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

Bands and artists wanting to submit news items for "Local Music News" may email their news to homegrownrocker@gmail.com. Indicate "MUSIC NEWS" in the subject heading!

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on the show are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: Magnum Broadcasting, 315 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801; ATTN: Jim Price/Homegrown. Or drop the recordings off at the station during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9 AM – 5 PM. You can also email digital song files or inquiries about the show to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
