Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 19 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

With St. Patrick's Day 2017 two days in the rear view mirror, it was again the time of the year for the "Homegrown Rocker" to get its Irish up with the annual St. Patrick's Special! We spotlighted the area bands and artists who do their music with a wee bit of an Irish or Celtic flare! We heard pairs and blocks of tunes from the likes of Lucky Lad Green, Tree, Barleyjuice, Ceann, Full Kilt, Bastard Bearded Irishmen, Kilmaine Saints, the Michael O'Brian Band and more! We paid homage to the late Dan Myers I with a live 2004 track by Dan and the Irish Rattlers for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear an Irish tune with a local flavor from Baltimore's Nua!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

LUCKY LAD GREEN - "Irish Pride"
LUCKY LAD GREEN - "Bar Fight"
TREE - "Wild Rover"
TREE - "Drunken Sailor"
THE ARTS - "Celtic Tale"
BARLEYJUICE - "St. Patrick's Day"
BARLEYJUICE - "Sweet Young Thing"
CEANN - "Pittsburgh Makes Me Drunk"
CEANN - "Moron with the Bodhran"
FULL KILT - "Wild Night"
FULL KILT - "Plastic Paddys" (live)
FULL KILT - "Come Have a Drink with the Band"

HOUR TWO:

BASTARD BEARDED IRISHMEN - "Paddy O'Shea"
BASTARD BEARDED IRISHMEN - "Whiskey, Rum, Bourbon, Beer"
MISCHIEF BREW - "A Liquor Never Brewed"
DEAD IRISH BLUES - "The Derelict Yo-Ho-Ho and a Bottle of Rum"
GERRY BURSKEY - "Liver Fulla Liquor"
THE IRISH RATTLERS - "Dear Boss" (live) (2004, Local Music Flashback)
NUA - "The Curve" (Across State Lines)
THE CLOVER - "Kiss Me I'm Irish Today"
KILMAINE SAINTS - "Gold and Guns (Will Get the Job Done)"
KILMAINE SAINTS - "Haul Away Joe"
KILMAINE SAINTS - "Amazing Grace/The Saints Are Up!"
MICHAEL O'BRIAN BAND - "Whiskey in the Jar" (live)
MICHAEL O'BRIAN BAND - "Clancy" (live)

On our next program, we finally get back to checking our mailboxes, and will get caught up on new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks! We'll also update "Local Music News," dig into the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside the state!

Upcoming guests and specials include:

APR. 2 - Psycho Prophecy
APR. 9 - Wings That Buzz
APR. 16 - The Crew of the Half Moon
APR. 30 - The Long and Short of It Special
MAY 14 - Nag Champions

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on the show are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: Magnum Broadcasting, 315 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801; ATTN: Jim Price/Homegrown. Or drop the recordings off at the station during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9 AM – 5 PM. You can also email digital song files or inquiries about the show to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
