Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 26 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

While the "Homegrown Rocker" was away at the annual Millennium Music Conference and celebrating St. Patrick's Day during recent weeks, the show's mailboxes filled up with a number of new recordings - so this week, we emptied the mailboxes and debuted lots of new music from those recordings! We gave first spins to new tunes from Nag Champions, Shine Delphi, Wings That Buzz, Cameron Molloy, Six Bar Break, Medusa's Disco, Dirty Mojo, Jukehouse Bombers, SuperMonkey and Skell! Along the way, we updated "Local Music News," dug a 2001 number by Harrisburg's John Micek from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a brand new tune from New Jersey rockers New Day Dawn!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

WALKNEY - "I Always Wanted You"
MAKING STATE - "All I Need"
NAG CHAMPIONS - "Skin Diver"
MOUNTAIN ROAD - "Little Bit of Blooze"
SHINE DELPHI - "Tiny Little Seed"
WINGS THAT BUZZ - "Best Kept Secret"
CAMERON MOLLOY - "Mrs. Jones"
RAVEN & THE WREN - "I Am Evil"
SIX BAR BREAK - "Soldier's Call"
NOBODY'S HEROES - "Reflections of My Demise"

HOUR TWO:

MEDUSA'S DISCO - "Twisted Dentist (Novocaine)"
GUN METAL GRAY - "We Are One"
DIRTY MOJO - "Morrow County Jail"
JUKEHOUSE BOMBERS - "Evil I've Done"
SUPERMONKEY - "Nashbville"
JOHN MICEK - "Save You Now" (2001, Local Music Flashback)
NEW DAY DAWN - "The Broken" (Across State Lines)
PHOBOS ANOMALY - "7 of Diamonds"
SKELL - "Loose Myself"
NEVERWAKE - "Suffocate"

Guests will be visiting us on our next program, as we welcome Lewistown metal rockers Psycho Prophecy into the studios! We will meet the band members and learn their mission, and hear tunes off Psycho Prophecy's self-titled debut CD! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig into the archive for another "Local Music Flashback," and review Toothless' self-titled EP in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

In Local Music News...

One of the Harrisburg area's top live music venues was destroyed by fire last weekend. Tubby's Nightclub in Duncannon (north of Harrisburg) caught fire early last Sunday morning, March 19, and was gutted by flames. The venue was closed at the time the fire started, and nobody was injured. Providing a large performance stage and in-house production system, Tubby's played host to numerous local and regional bands and performers, as well as a number of national acts such as Jackyl, Pop Evil, Great White and more.

Sad news that struck the major music world this past week impacted the area music scene as well. Former Boston drummer Sib Hashian unexpectedly passed on Wednesday, March 22, at the age of 67. Sib reportedly passed during a performance on the Legends Of Rock Cruise, the annual cruise co-sponsored and also featuring regional rockers Hybrid Ice, which travels between Miami, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. Sib was also slated to be a part of the Legends Of Rock concert coming to the Blair County Convention Center near Altoona on May 27.

After a 17-year run on local and regional stages, popular Irish-themed duo the Michael O'Brian Band have decided to split and go their separate ways. Michael Zerbee and Brian Anderson are parting on good terms, after deciding mutually that it was time to move on. Michael will continue to sing and play guitar in his other two projects, Full Kilt and Hot Wax.

Area metal group Ember's Fall played their final Pennsylvania show on Saturday night, March 25, at McGarvey's in Altoona; part of a triple-bill with Darkness On The Radio and Arcane Haven. The members of Ember's Fall are going their separate ways due to happenings in their personal lives. Singer Dennis Ray Gee plans to restart the group with new members later this year when he relocated to Arizona.

Nobody's Heroes has introduced a new drummer, as Matt Floravit takes over percussion duties, replacing Abe Weber. Matt made his debut with the group during a show on St. Patrick's weekend at the Castle Pub in Ebensburg.

Also changing drummers is Johnstown hard rockers Inside Out, who have parted ways with Jim Bagrosky. The parting is a friendly one. The group's former drummer, Mark Gindlesperger, returns to take over drum duties.

Area rockers Down to the Wire have announced a new guitar player, as Scott Sensebaugh takes over lead guitar duties, replacing Kirk Robison, who has moved on to other projects.

And Windber-based alternative rock band Drive-By Magic Show has issued their debut CD.The album, Pulling Strings, was released in late February. The group's next scheduled show is on April 29 at the Olde Keg Bar & Grill in Portage.
