Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the April 9 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We recently caught up with Mercersburg-based indie-folk/rock band Wings That Buzz (http://www.wingsthatbuzz.com/), before they performed at a benefit concert at the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (HMAC). We aired that conversation on this week's program, as we found out about Wings That Buzz, their story and music; and we featured multiple songs off their latest CD, Every Pretty Thing! Since Wings That Buzz was formed by past members of Josa Step, we broke out a 2002 Josa Step song for this week's "Local Music Flashback!" Along the way, we debuted a new song from Lenina Crowne, updated "Local Music News," and reviewed the Jukehouse Bombers' Death or Glory CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

CHRIS VIPOND & THE STANLEY STREET BAND - "Armchair Preachers"
THE CREW OF THE HALF MOON - "The Party After the Show"
WINGS THAT BUZZ - "Still Dreamin'"
STRIPED MAPLE HOLLOW - "Giving Up on Giving Up"
WINGS THAT BUZZ - "Groundling"
DEREK WOODS BAND - "Big Truck"
WINGS THAT BUZZ - "Transition Is the Mission"
LENINA CROWNE - "Know"

HOUR TWO:

HUMANDALA - "Owls"
YAM YAM - "StarDog"
WINGS THAT BUZZ - "Mercy of it All"
JUKEHOUSE BOMBERS - "Midnight Blues"
WINGS THAT BUZZ - "I'll Just Wait in the Sun"
JOSA STEP - "Speak to Dream" (2002, Local Music Flashback)
WINGS THAT BUZZ - "Best Kept Secret"

We will have more musical guests on our next show, as we speak with Johnstown-based indie folk/rock group The Crew Of the Half Moon! We will meet the band members and learn their mission, and hear tunes off their latest album, Blanket Fort Radio! Along the way, we will debut a new song or two, update "Local Music News," and review Sofeya and the Puffins' Genetic Confetti CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

APR. 30 - The Long and Short of It Special
MAY 14 - Nag Champions
MAY 21 - Jack Pyers
MAY 28 - Memorial Day Special
JUNE 11 - The Whatleys
JUNE 18 - Father's Day Special
JUNE 25 - 13 Saints

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

The ninth annual Launch Music Conference and Festival launches on Thursday, April 13 and happens next weekend in downtown Lancaster. The conference will feature music industry professionals and panelists, seminars, networking, and showcase performances from an estimated 220 different bands and artists. For more information about the event, visit the website www.launchmusicconference.com.

Chris Rattie is in the final stages of production on his second solo recording. The album, Porch, is slated for a September release. Chris has launched a crowd-funding campaign through Indie-Go-Go to help with the final production costs on the album, which will be released digitally and on vinyl.

The area music scene mourned the loss of George Welsh, who passed away unexpectedly on March 25 at age 41. From Altoona, George played guitar and was a member of several Christian-themed rock projects, including the Kittanning-based group Anvah.
