Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 21 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we were joined via phone by former Dirty Looks and Harpo member Jack Pyers! We discussed the latest happenings in Jack's career, including his recently-issued second solo album, Dead on the Floor, and we featured tracks from the disc as well! We also featured a tune from Jack's 2009 project with former Poptart Monkeys singer Paul Reddon, Well Of Souls, for this week's "Local Music Flashback," debuted new songs from the Sea Offs and Jonathan Monument, and reviewed Black Cat Moan's The Saint, The Munk & the Moan CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

For our next program, we celebrate Memorial Day tradition and present the annual "Memorial Day Special!" We will take our annual trek down Local Music Memory Lane, and feature music from past area bands and artists! We will showcase some of the popular past names from area stages, as well as a few of the more obscure and less popular names. We'll also pay homage to some of the local and regional musicians we have lost along the way, including those we have recently lost such as Dr. Dave Parry, Jerry Haines, Pete Rossi and George Welsh.

Upcoming guests and specials include:

JUNE 11 - The Whatleys
JUNE 18 - Father's Day Special
JUNE 25 - 13 Saints
JULY 2 - Cover Song Special
JULY 30 - Mama Corn ("Fishin' Musician" Special)

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

Bands and artists wanting to submit news items for "Local Music News" may email their news to homegrownrocker@gmail.com. Indicate "MUSIC NEWS" in the subject heading!

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on the show are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: Magnum Broadcasting, 315 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801; ATTN: Jim Price/Homegrown.
