Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 13 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

Again this week, we took the opportunity to dig through the mailboxes to see what new recordings have arrived in recent weeks. We debuted more new music, including songs from Pure Cane Sugar, Buffalo Rose, Ted McCloskey, Young Lungs, Yam Yam, Matt Otis & the Sound, Pensive Fear, the Hobbs Sisters and Fyre. Along the way, we updated "Local Music News," dug a 2007 song by Just Megan from the archive for our "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song from Maryland's Admiral Browning, and reviewed Medusa's Disco's Ripe CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

ZACH WADE & THE GOOD GRIEF - "Halfway Man"
PURE CANE SUGAR - "Box N'Nails"
BUFFALO ROSE - "Cigarettes and Whiskey"
RED PAINT - "Where Giants Play"
TED McCLOSKEY - "Spin.Spinning.Spun"
YOUNG LUNGS - "False Promises"
YAM YAM - "Keys to Questlove's House"
HABATAT - "Gold"
MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "So It Goes..."
WINGS THAT BUZZ - "Mercy of It All"
MATT PLESS - "Talkin' Information Blues"

HOUR TWO:

WHITE WITCH - "Singleman"
44MAG - "Disfigure"
PENSIVE FEAR - "The Awakening"
MEDUSA'S DISCO - "Beautiful Creature"
THE HOBBS SISTERS - "Cheap Glass"
JUST MEGAN - "This Town" (2007, Local Music Flashback)
ADMIRAL BROWNING - "Zee Birds" (Across State Lines)
THE PERKOLATORS - "Give Me My Love"
FYRE - "3 Ghosts"

We will resurrect a special we like to do from time to time on our next program. The "Fast Forward Special" will feature song double-shots spotlighting various area musicians and groups; the first song will be from early in that musician/group's career, and the second song will be a new or recent song from that same musician/group! By this show's very nature, we will feature plenty of "Local Music Flashback" tracks from the archives, and we will update "Local Music News" as well! Join us for our then-and-now journey, the "Fast Forward Special" edition of the "Homegrown Rocker," next Sunday night!

Upcoming guests and specials include:

SEPT. 10 - Matt Otis & the Sound
SEPT. 17 - Fyre
OCT. 1 - Small Town Horror Show/Zombietown U.S.A. preview
OCT. 15 - Lady

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)
