Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 3 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We again provided maximum local and regional music on this week's program, checking out a few new arrivals in the show's mailboxes and updating happenings on area stages! We debuted new tunes from Lady, Medusa's Disco, Billy Price Band, Jimmy Adler, Behind the Grey and Defy the Tide! We also dug out a 2001 song by Kris Kehr & the Stone Poets for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song by northern Virginia's Plank Stompers.

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE CREW OF THE HALF MOON - "The Party After the Show"
YOUNG LUNGS - "Reality"
MISS MELANIE & THE VALLEY RATS - "What I Need"
TREE - "Wild Rover"
JOSH GALLAGHER - "Pick Any Small Town"
HOBBS SISTERS - "Cheap Glass"
MELVILLE WALBECK - "Fireflies"
MYCENEA WORLEY - "Siren"
LADY - "Take It to the Grave"
MEDUSA'S DISCO - "State of Mind"
MITCH LITTLER - "Makin' Good Times"

HOUR TWO:

FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Issues"
BLACK CAT MOAN - "Underground"
BILLY PRICE BAND - "Something Strange" (live)
JIMMY ADLER - "What I've Done"
STRIPED MAPLE HOLLOW - "Giving Up on Giving Up"
KRIS KEHR & THE STONE POETS - "Movin' On" (2001, Local Music Flashback)
PLANK STOMPERS - "Carbon Queen" (Across State Lines)
MAMA CORN - "The Hanging of Alfred Andrews"
BEHIND THE GREY - "Treason"
DARKNESS ON THE RADIO - "Paint My Bones Black"
DEFY THE TIDE - "Catalyst"

We will have guests on our next program, as Matt Otis and Kent Tonkin of Matt Otis & the Sound will join us to discuss the group's new album, So It Goes..., and we will feature songs from the CD! And Matt and Kent are bringing instruments along to do a few live tunes as well! We will also update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and review Jimmy Adler's Grease Alley CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

SEPT. 17 - Fyre
OCT. 1 - Small Town Horror Show/Zombietown U.S.A. preview
OCT. 15 - Lady
NOV. 5 - Calmly Poisoned

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)
