Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 10 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

Guests returned to the program this week, as we caught up with Matt Otis and Kent Tonkin of Matt Otis & the Sound for an interview recorded at McGarvey's in Altoona. Matt and Kent discussed Matt and the Sound's brand new CD, So It Goes... plus the group's other recent happenings, and both brought instruments and played a couple of tunes live for us as well! Along the way, we debuted a new song from Ted McCloskey, updated "Local Music News," dug a 2004 song by Johnstown's Flap Jack & Jill from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Jimmy Adler's Grease Alley CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

TED McCLOSKEY - "Bigger Bombs"
NORMAN NARDINI - "Work Like a Dog"
MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "Blinds"
JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "You've Got to Believe It"
MATT OTIS & KENT TONKIN - "Home" (performed live)
TOMMY FIX - "Stand Up"
MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "Frozen Moments"
THE COMMONHEART - "Aloysius"

HOUR TWO:

CHRIS VIPOND & THE STANLEY STREET BAND - "Everybody Else"
DEREK WOODS BAND - "Big Truck"
MATT OTIS & KENT TONKIN - "So It Goes" (performed live)
JIMMY ADLER - "No Pain"
MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "Melancholia"
FLAP JACK & JILL - "Not Me" (2004, Local Music Flashback)
MATT OTIS - "The Most Important Thing"
LAIKA, THE ASTRO-HOUND - "Family Tree"

We will have guests on our next program too, as Altoona-based heavy metal rockers Fyre will join us to discuss the group's debut album, III Ghosts, and we will feature songs from the CD! We will also update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to feature a song from an independent band or artist from outside the state, and review Jonathan Monument's Wonderkid CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

OCT. 1 - Small Town Horror Show/Zombietown U.S.A. preview
OCT. 15 - Lady
OCT. 29 - Halloween Special
NOV. 5 - Calmly Poisoned

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)
