Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 29 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

For the edition before Halloween, we this week presented the 2017 installment of the "Halloween Special!" We celebrated area bands, musicians and songs with a connection to Halloween, with tunes about ghosts, vampires, spiders, spirits, zombies, witches, skeletons and other things that go bump in the night! We also broke out a 1997 song by Pittsburgh's GBats from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a Halloween-geared number by CJ Ramone, and reviewed Gene the Werewolf's The Loner CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE LEGENDARY HUCKLEBUCKS - "B-Movie"
THE WHATLEYS - "Broke Down in Murdertown"
BLACK CAT MOAN - "Burns Like Hell"
JIMMY ADLER - "Scratchin' at My Screendoor"
ROY HANDY & THE MOONSHOT - "I'm a Vampire"
INSIDE OUT - "Vampire Eyes"
JACK SERVELLO - "White Lady of the Buckhorn"
FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Black Widow"
TED McCLOSKEY - "Looking Good in the Coffin"
THE CREW OF THE HALF MOON - "Cemetery Cops"
THE HAWKEYES - "Ghost"
ANCHORS TO ANCHORS - "Ghost Town"

HOUR TWO:

LOVE AND LIGHT PRODUCTIONS 2014 - "Time Warp"
LADY - "Coffins and Crowbars"
ONE ADAM 12 - "Alive/Undead"
GENE THE WEREWOLF - "Walking Dead"
PHOBOS ANOMALY - "Skeleton"
GBATS - "Rip My Heart Out" (1997, Local Music Flashback)
CJ RAMONE - "Girlfriend in a Graveyard" (Across State Lines)
SMALL TOWN HORROR SHOW - "Fearless"
WHITE WITCH - "Slaughter in Salem"
FYRE - "3 Ghosts"

Originally we were to have guests on our next program, but last-minute automotive difficulties (with our guest) scuttled the scheduled interview session for the program, so we moved Calmly Poisoned's appearance back a week to the November 12 program. Instead, we will raid the mailboxes in search of new recordings that have arrived recently, and debut lots of new tunes! We will also update "Local Music News," dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside the state, and review Triple Dose's Brotherhood CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

NOV. 12 - Calmly Poisoned
DEC. 10 - The Crooked Line
DEC. 24 - Christmas Special
DEC. 31 - 2017 Year in Review Special
JAN. 14 - Dan Stonerook
MAR. 4 - Millennium Music Conference Recap
MAR. 11 - Homegrown Rocker 20th Anniversary Special!
MAR. 18 - Millennium Contest Winner (TBA)

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

Bands and artists wanting to submit news items for "Local Music News" may email their news to homegrownrocker@gmail.com. Indicate "MUSIC NEWS" in the subject heading!

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on the show are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: Magnum Broadcasting, 315 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801; ATTN: Jim Price/Homegrown. Or drop the recordings off at the station during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9 AM – 5 PM. You can also email digital song files or inquiries about the show to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
