Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 19 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we went back to the mailboxes to see what new recordings have arrived in recent weeks, and debuted several new tunes on the program. We introduced new numbers from Lizzie & the Yeehaw Gang, Callie Tomblin and Andy Mowatt's Steely Jam. We also updated "Local Music News," broke out a 1998 song by Harrisburg's Scapegoat for this week's "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from West Virginia heavy rock powerhouse Bobaflex, and reviewed Anatomy of the Sacred's Ashes to Ashes CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

In Local Music News...

A Harrisburg area live music venue that was destroyed by fire this past March may be rebuilt sometime in 2018. The owners of Tubby's Nightclub in Duncannon are moving toward rebuilding the venue, which was destroyed by fire early on the morning of March 19. Penn Live.com reported that during a Penn Township meeting on October 25, supervisors approved a waiver of land development plans for Tubby's new building, which will be reconstructed at its previous site on Inn Road in Duncannon.

Pennsylvania-based national recording artist Jeffrey Gaines announced that he will be releasing a brand new album in January. The ten-song album, called Alright, will hit the streets on January 26 on Omnivore Records, and it will feature appearances from guitarist Val McCallum (who has worked with Jackson Browne, Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt), and Elvis Costello band members Davey Faragher and Pete Thomas. A pre-order campaign for the album is currently under way through www.pledgemusic.com.

And recent "Homegrown Rocker" guests, Cambria County experimental/folk rockers Nag Champions Mystery Band, will release their second full-length CD later this month. The album, called Earthworks, will be unveiled during a CD-release event on Saturday evening, November 25, at the Barnesboro VFW in Northern Cambria.
