Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 3 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we plunged into the Christmas spirit with our guests, Bo Moore and Johnny Bayush, both key participants in the creation of the new holiday season compilation CD A Johnstown Christmas! In an interview recorded at Johnstown's BottleWorks Ethnic Arts Center, Bo and Johnny shared their perspectives and story about the album, and we spotlighted several songs from the disc, including former NBC The Voice finalist Josh Gallagher's rendition of "Silent Night!" Along the way, we debuted new songs from Nag Champions, Steve Brosky, Bree Gearhart (with Aaron Porta) and Sterling Koch. We also updated "Local Music News," broke out a 1995 song by Harrisburg's The Syn D'Cats for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Callie Tomblin's self-titled CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

RAVEN & THE WREN - "Lost and Found"
MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "Frozen Moments"
THE MOORE BROS. - "Christmas Time in Johnstown"
NAG CHAMPIONS - "Brown River Blues"
JOSH GALLAGHER - "Silent Night"
STEVE BROSKY - "In Your Arms"
MUTUAL FUN SOCIETY - "How to Build a Snowman"
MISS MELANIE & THE VALLEY RATS - "You Ain't Gonna Steal My Shine"
BREE GEARHART (WITH AARON PORTA) - "Ashes"

HOUR TWO:

FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Keep On Rockin'"
THE WRECKERS - "Best Days"

THE SYN D'CATS - "Trashy Little Number" (1995, Local Music Flashback)
JAZZ IN YOUR FACE - "My Favorite Things"
STERLING KOCH - "Another Day"

Next week's program will again feature guests, as we speak with the members of area Americana/bluegrass performers The Crooked Line! We'll meet the band members and learn their story, hear songs off their debut CD Far From Perfect as well as new songs from their soon-to-be-completed second CD! We will also dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside the state, and review The Dirty Mojo Blues Band's Made Cents at the Time CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

In Local Music News...

A popular Lehigh Valley musician is about to unveil a short film based on a song he wrote about the issue of opioid addiction. The short film for singer and songwriter Steve Brosky's 2016 song "In Your Arms" will debut on December 7 during a class project at Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke. The film will be part of a forum about addiction, which will also feature guest speakers and will inform the college's students about addiction and resources for recovery. The song is from Steve's latest CD, Still, and the film will appear on Steve's social media pages beginning on December 20.

Johnstown-based hard rock group Silver Screen and State College's The Wreckers are among the first groups announced as showcasing performers during the upcoming 2018 Millennium Music Conference. Both groups were among some 150 bands and performers listed as early selections for the 22nd edition of the weekend conference, which will take place from February 22 through 25 at The Park Inn By Radisson West hotel complex near Mechanicsburg. For more information about the conference, visit the website www.musicconference.net.
