Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 10 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We again welcomed guests on this week's program, as we spoke with the members of area Americana/country/bluegrass performers The Crooked Line during an interview recorded at the group's practice/recording facility near Centre Hall. We learned about the group and their story, discussed their music and career, and featured songs from their debut CD Far From Perfect, as well as debuted new songs from their forthcoming second album to be released in 2018! Along the way, we debuted a new song by Doug Forshey & Chris Strait, broke out a 2004 Christmas season number by Blind Jonny Death for this week's "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song by English performer Mr. Martin Simpson and Washington, D.C.'s "American Songster," Mr. Dom Flemons, and reviewed The Dirty Mojo Blues Band's Made Cents at the Time CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

NOBODY'S HEROES - "Reflections of My Demise"
BLACK CAT MOAN - "Silent Night Blues"
THE CROOKED LINE - "Skeleton Man"
MYCENEA WORLEY - "Low"
THE CROOKED LINE - "Kansas Now"
DOUG FORSHEY & CHRIS STRAIT - "Somewhere New"
THE CROOKED LINE - "Concrete Shoes"
OVERHEAD - "We Three Kings"
CHRIS RATTIE - "Hotel By the Highway"

HOUR TWO:

MAMA CORN - "Sing!"
TUSSEY MOUNTAIN MOONSHINERS - "Long Way From Home"
THE CROOKED LINE - "Crooked Line Breakdown"
THE DIRTY MOJO BLUES BAND - "Too Much Alcohol"
THE CROOKED LINE - "Hard Time Every Time"
BLIND JONNY DEATH - "The Greatest Gift" (2004, Local Music Flashback)
THE CROOKED LINE - "Comfort Zone"
MR. MARTIN SIMPSON & MR. DOM FLEMONS - "Too Long (I've Been Gone)" (Across State Lines)
JEFF MAMETT - "Here's Your Hat"

On next week's program we'll return to the mailboxes for one final time in 2017 to explore new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks, so we will have plenty of new tunes to debut and maximum local and regional music! We will also update "Local Music News," dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside the state!

Upcoming guests and specials include:

DEC. 24 - Christmas Special
DEC. 31 - 2017 Year in Review Special
JAN. 14 - Dan Stonerook
JAN. 28 - Sterling Koch
FEB. 4 - Ladies of Local Music Special
MAR. 4 - Millennium Music Conference Recap
MAR. 11 - Homegrown Rocker 20th Anniversary Special!
MAR. 18 - Millennium Contest Winner (TBA)

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

Bands and artists wanting to submit news items for "Local Music News" may email their news to homegrownrocker@gmail.com. Indicate "MUSIC NEWS" in the subject heading!

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on the show are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: Magnum Broadcasting, 315 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801; ATTN: Jim Price/Homegrown. Or drop the recordings off at the station during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9 AM – 5 PM. You can also email digital song files or inquiries about the show to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
