Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 24 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

Since it was Christmas Eve, it was appropriate to mark the occasion with the annual "Homegrown Rocker" Christmas Special! We spotlighted holiday season music from the local and regional music scene, showcasing time-tested Christmas classics from area bands and artists, as well as their original Christmas and holiday-themed tunes! We debuted a few new holiday numbers from Jack Servello, Six Bar Break, Walt & Jackie, Rising Regina and The Bloody Seamen. We also revisited "Homegrown Rocker" holiday season favorites such as Roadkill bassist/singer Greg Majewsky's Christmas recollection of a favorite dartboard, and Busted Monkey's 'Jerry Springer'-themed Christmas classic. And we paid tribute to B.E. Taylor and Eric "Fat Vinny" Kelly by playing Christmas season odes from both.

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

KENNY MURDICK - "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"
SMALL TOWN TITANS - "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch"
JACK SERVELLO - "Christmas at Grandma's"
THE SERVELLO FAMILY - "The Little Drummer Boy"
SIX BAR BREAK - "Our Own Tree"
OVERHEAD - "Deck the Halls"
WALT & JACKIE - "Take Time"
RISING REGINA - "Away in a Manger"
MONSTER TRACK SUPERGROUP - "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"
JIMMY MOWERY - "This Year"
JOSH GALLAGHER - "Silent Night"
PURE CANE SUGAR - "O Come, O Come Emmanuel"

HOUR TWO:

THE MOORE BROS. - "Christmas Time in Johnstown"
LORDS A LEAPING - "What Child Is This"
SAM SMITH - "A Christmas Timeline"
DON HUGHES - "We Three Kings"
THE BLOODY SEAMEN - "Saint Nick's Bones"
ROADKILL - "Santa Claus Is a Big Fat Jerk"
THE JELLYBRICKS - "Father Christmas"
THE WHATLEYS - "No More Holidays!"
ANATOMY OF THE SACRED - "The Song of Christmas"
FIST FIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT - "Please Come Home for Christmas"
BUSTED MONKEY - "Merry Christmas (Your Stuff's in the Yard)"
EMILY'S TOYBOX - "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"
B.E. TAYLOR - "Feel the Love of Christmas"
FAT VINNY & THE WISEGUYS - "I'll Be Home for Christmas"

Since our next program happens on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31), we'll help slam the lid on 2017 by presenting the "Homegrown Rocker" 2017 Year In Review Special! We will start with January, and work our way through each month, recounting the area music scene news, shows and music that defined the area music scene in 2017! We'll recap band formations and breakups, personnel moves, special shows, concerts and benefits, remember musicians we lost in 2017 and much more! And we'll feature songs from the area music names who made their marks on the past year! So as you gear up to watch the ball drop at midnight, listen to the "Homegrown Rocker" 2017 Year In Review Special! And as Mark Allen Wesesky sings in his Project's special New Year's Eve ode that kicks off our special, "Happy New Year - Toss Me a Beer!"
