Personally, I’m ALL about the effects loop! The guys at Guitar Center get pretty annoyed at my “stress testing”. On the other hand, I realize that most guitar players don’t want to mess with their effects loop. They’d rather have something to stomp on. I did give that Holy Grail pedal a try at Guita...

I did see the Sarceno model before. I just didn’t realize that it was a Parallel Axis.

Re: passive humbuckers
The Invader has high output, but I thought they were kinda muddy with very little upper harmonics. The JB is one of my favorite pickups and it is one of the higher output passives available. If the JB's output isn't hot enough for you but you like its tone, the Distortion Parallel Axis is somewhat ...

Another option would be a passive pup of your choice with an EMG PA-2 active boost, or an EMG-AB afterburner. These are preamps that work with active or passive pups and you can set the boost anywhere from 0-20+ db. I already have one of those in my Charvel, and it's not being used. I threw the EMG...

Passive Humbuckers
Hey all! I have a guitar with a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker and 2 single coil rails. I’ve been thinking of upgrading to a Seymour Duncan Parallel Axis Distortion, Seymour Duncan Dimebucker, Seymour Duncan Invader, or DiMarzio Tone Zone. Basically, I’m trying to get it as “hot” as my Charvel with act...

5150 II Question
I’ve been playing solid state for the last couple of years, probably because I haven’t played out at all. While I do get a great sound, it’s not good enough for natural stage volume. I play metal and rock. I’ve been looking at some used Peavey 5150 II heads on Ebay. They’ve got a good reputation for...

I won't be available for a live draft. I'll pre-edit my pick list, but I would suggest that we switching to an autopick. Settings look great, Russ. Good job, as always. Tood, get ready. Oh, and I changed my team name just for Tood. I would do whatever draft type that the majority of us prefer. Seem...

I'm hoping a continuation. rreiheart or ToonaRockGuy was the one last year who kind of set this thing all up, I can't remember (sorry, if I gave the credit to someone else). But there was some talk of doing it this year as a live draft. I was kind of hoping there would be more discussion on the top...

Of course, I find 4 of them on ebay after you get your Charvel done!! Always happens to me also! Re: motherboard
I guess the EMG afterburner is basically an active pre-amp for use with active or passive pickups. Did you use your original Charvel pickups, or did you go with EMG's? Bingo! You can make passive pick-ups more powerful for under $50. That was my angst in this situation. I liked the pick-ups and I d...

Terry did a great job! Thanks again for the information. As previously discussed, these motherboards don’t seem to exist anymore. Terry slapped an EMG Afterburner into my Charvel #5. These Afterburners are made to make passive guitars act a lot more like an active circuit using the existing pick-ups...

Thanks guys! I heard that there is a new guitar store in Vinco, but I didn’t know where it was. I’ll probably stop by during Memorial Day weekend. I replaced the middle pot and knob. I checked the wires to and from the 9-volt, as well. I’m 90% sure that the problem is in the motherboard. Kenny – I k...

Motherboard for a Charvel Model 5
I have a Charvel Model 5 (1987), and I need a new motherboard for the original active pick-ups. The pick-ups still sound great, and I don’t want to put EMGs in if I don’t have to. Basically, I’m getting a crackling noise when I play.
Anyone know where I can find one?

I’m convinced that he’s not looking very hard. I'll tell him that,I hope when you get in your mid 40's to early 50's you don't get the rug pulled out from underneath you and they won't hire you cause of your age and too over experienced. And you got bills and the Company gives you a big shit sandwi...
