Altoona area vocalist (23) and guitar player (29) are currently seeking another Guitarist for a mainly modern rock cover project. We have our own capable sound system along with a nice place to practice here in town. We would like to find someone who takes their musicianship seriously but puts enjoy...

I find a post about a new album I'm actually interested in. I start to read the thread to see what others think. I quickly loose interest thanks to the derelicts that make negative comments and have not even bothered to give it a listen. This forum will never change. I have no idea why I ever ventur...

I would recomend that you wrap the string around the post about 2 times. If you wrap the strings excessive times this will leave the string longer making it more likely to streach and lose tension. Try using a heavier guage string or a lighter pick. Many people don't have very good right hand techni...

The X Factor from Iron Maiden is an album that I enjoy that I believe many dislike. It was the first album with Blaze Bailey after the departure of Bruce Dickenson. I enjoy the tasty bass work from Steve Harris and many of the guitar melodies are excellent.

I had to go with Gibson even though im a big fan of Fender as well. I have yet to play a guitar that gives me that fat overdriven tone that i get with a gibby through a valve amplifier.

I’m also am growing tired of non-musical related subjects being discussed on this forum. Aren’t their political forums where these issues can be discussed rather than a local music website? All of us are guilty of posting unrelated topics from time to time, but the whole politics, sports subjects ar...

I really should get off my ass and hit the books again. I was screwing around with the Phrygian mode some months back and it had a kinda Santana spanish feel. Worked great sometimes, but over some things it sounded like total clams.

I constantly use the minor and major pentatonic in improvisation. I have found several notes that don't fit the scale, but manage to sound amazing in the correct part. I have several different "pet patterns" that I use as well. Knowing this gives me total freedom in a guitar solo or fill. ...

Good thread, Knowing a little theory will help you write songs in a big way. I hate writing music when your just stabbing away at different chords trying to figure what works. The theory is like a road map.

I think that in a rock band situation the vocalist is at least 60% of what the common person is paying attention to. IMHO the vocalist plays the biggest role in whether the band is a success or failure. I can stand it when a guitar player hits a few clams, but out of key vocals will clear a room. As...
