Good to have you back on the 'page, Sanchez! Here's a punk concept I've been tossing around. Anyone who wants to chime in, let me know if it sucks or not. The idea would be to do punky covers of classic blues tunes and bluesy covers of classic punk tunes. Meet halfway and try to make it all sound l...

I recently got back into jamming on some old school punk with my buddies from the Insignificant. My goodness has it been fun and liberating.

Jim is a top notch, professional musician. I couldn't recommend him highly enough. If you're looking to do something in the areas he's mentioned, you couldn't do any better.

I used to think I didn't like Queensryche because of Geoff Tate's voice (I admit he's great, there's just something about his voice that's like nails on a chalkboard to me). This doesn't do me much better because they've obviously found a clone somewhere. There were some parts of the song that weren...

The only real difference between the Schallers and the original Floyd is the writing. Once they went into production, Schaller actually manufactured them for Floyd. I think a lot of the problems are with the licensed ones that use poor quality steel. They tend to wear badly with use. I'd really like...

I've stayed away from Floyds (and trem systems in general) for years, mostly because I've had so many bad experiences with improperly set up ones in the past. I used to have a Jackson RR with a Floyd and it was a great guitar but the bridge was nothing but a pain. I eventually ended up just blocking...

I was lucky enough to be in the room when Mr.Feathers was tracking solos for this song. Something tells me it was pretty loud in there! It sounds like the amp is going to melt down. Good stuff, fierce primal blues. Yeah, it might have been a bit loud, I had the Mesa 50/50 on 3 or 4 for the leads, w...

I was lucky enough to see Dangerous Dan a few times over the years and was super lucky enough to open for him as a special guest of the Hurricanes (thanks again, guys) once when he was touring with Dickey Betts. I was too young to go, but I was told that it was Dangerous Dan on guitar when Gregg All...

I love the Blackstar stuff. I've played through a couple of HT-50s and a couple of Series Ones, but I've never tried the HT-5s. Sometimes cranking up a small wattage amp is just the tonal ticket. I've found that Vintage 30s are very good sounding in that application. Having said all that, kudos for ...

I've known a few local folk who have had bigger record deals. Unless you're really planning on dedicating 100% of everything you have toward pursuing it, it's most often not worth it. A lot of deals involve taking on a lot of debt before you "make it". If things don't work out, you're stuc...

Sorry if my discussion waxes too "political" in this age of anti-politics on RP, but the question and topic are sort of predisposed to it. I think it's probably a step in the right direction, but I'm against the idea of "legalization" as opposed to "decriminalization". ...

When I started writing the material that is now the Black Sun material, I contemplated tuning down as far as a step and a half. There is a heavy Doom metal feel to a lot of the songs and I wanted to see how it sounded. To be honest, I really thought it sounded good that way, but something was missin...

I was just recently going through some old Scaccia videos on YouTube and listening to some of his old material. Not only was he a great guitarist, he always came across as funny and personable as well. It was a bummer to hear that he was gone...a true loss. At least he went out doing what he loved.
