Fender Custom Classic Jazz (2009, custom shop)

I love this bass. It has one flaw for me that I am correcting soon and is the reason I'm selling this. I just have to have that low-B string. So I ordered a 5 string version of this bass and I'm selling the 4 string one. 2009 Custom Classic Jazz in cherry burst (Yes it is a custom shop bass, see pic...

Do you use the dirt/overdrive/etc on your amp or is it 100% clean on that end? (i.e. your pedal board provides the tone, amp just makes it louder)

I'm seriously thinking about getting back out there, but the music I want to play isn't the music anyone else seems to want to play... or the bassist position isn't open ;) (Of all dang things I want to play modern alternative or country! I used to dislike those. Must've hit my head and don't rememb...

Traded it off fairly quick (for me anyway). Sadly found that I'm a cheap bass guy at heart. This Fender is kinda expensive on the cheap bass scale, but I really wanted one of the newer generation Fenders. They are some versatile basses with some of the best wood work out there right now. The 2008-20...

Pickups are the vintage noiseless pickups, same as on an american deluxe. I've backed away from flats lately. I think I'm hooked more on how they feel than they sound now. Way more finger friendly to those like me who don't play often but like to put in a few hours when I do play (no callouses requi...

First bass in a while...

So I've been pretty good about avoiding falling back into the never-ending cycle of buying/collecting/etc basses. This is my one relapse back into the fray: It is everything I hate in a bass, all rolled into one. 1. Red(ish) basses look flat/2D to me. 2. Tort pickguards only look good on white. 3. F...

There is no replacement for certain tones. I've tried a few "SVT" pedals and found none of them capture the tone in the entire range that a real SVT can produce. For certain situations certain pedals are too close to call, but that same pedal just doesn't cut it across the board. When I go...

I'm actually searching for the 400+ because of its drive. I have almost nothing but "clean" amps and preamps. The tone out of the 400+ is generally to my liking and I've exhausted all other options in that vein except to just finally try to get one ;)

After the $15 a tube (12ax7) mark I can't hear any difference going up in price. I mean I ~think~ I hear a difference in the moment, but when I listen to the recordings to A/B them I don't hear what I thought I heard anymore. I know that going by price means I'm basing my opinion on tubes on someone...

I have a 2 non-pro as well as the SVP-Pro (preamp of the 2-Pro) so this seems redundant for me to keep. Overall I like the 2-Pro mostly as a "complete package" that can do anything (great pre and great power). I don't think you could get fired for dragging one of these into any gig. You're...

Feeler: Ampeg SVT 2 Pro

Looking to thin my heard a bit to fund a new cow ;) So I'm wondering if anyone is interested in my SVT 2 Pro. 300 watts (all tube), power tubes have about 15-20 hours on them and were just replaced early March. It's a USA made blackface unit. The main reason I'm selling is I have several Ampeg tube ...

And if your going into a show where the sound is provided...leave them at home...the headache of trying to show an unknown sound man what to do can be a pain in the but. I'd actually go as far as to say not to get in-ears if you regularly gig with an unknown level of provided sound. I'd instead get...

There really isn't anything wrong with scooping the mids a little sometimes. "Tone" isn't a constant, it is a moving target. Sometimes the "sound" of a band requires shaping the "tone" of each instrument in certain ways. (really hard with two of the same instrument) Jac...

Looking for a teacher of the German bow hold

Looking for someone to spend an hour or two to teach me the basic technique of using the German bow for double bass.

I'd like to avoid the hours of figuring it out from online/book sources without feedback that I've spent with a French bow and my cello. (still don't have that right I'd bet)

I have to constantly redefine what it is I'm hearing sometimes too. I can never trust my ears with my tone when there is no "context" available. Just be sure to document your knobs' positions somehow (notebook, picture, etc). The only amp I know will be set the way I left it has all digita...

In messing around with a few amplifiers a couple years ago with a spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope, mainly pushing pink noise and sine/square waves through them, the only difference I noticed between tube and solid state was tube is less accurate in reproducing the output. Whether that is good or ...
