I called Verizon support to see what the update was and now the recording says that customers in the Altoona area may be experiencing connectivity problems. I'd encourage everyone to call or email Verizon customer service and demand a refund of a month of service. I did and they are refunding one mo...

Note it says KNOWN ISSUE. ------------- DW [DSL-SPEED] Speed / Latency problems Thank-you for your inquiry on the Verizon Broadband Report Forums. A couple other funny items from my discussions with support. Two of the many things they tried to blame the speed issue on. "You only have 43% of your system resources free" My laptop with 2G RAM had ONLY 1.2G free! WTF! "You only have 6.3GB available on your system drive, you need to...

On a good note, I emailed Verizon on Saturday to request a refund of my DSL cost for the last month and they already replied to tell me they would issue me a credit.

Gee, if only support could react as quickly.

This morning the speed is MUCH better, but still not up to what it should be. The trace route shows that the problem router is now working correctly, but I am curious to see if it will break again. A week ago they "fixed" the issue when I spoke to an L3 tech and he rebooted that router. Li...

Verizon DSL problems

Has anyone noticed a significant performance issue with Verizon DSL? About 3-4 weeks ago I noticed a serious reduction is performance of my DSL connection. It turns out that one of the Verizon routers is having some issues that affect a large number of users. If anyone is on Verizon DSL iin the Alto...

Was this a Rockpage member?

I saw vehicle in the Altoona area yesterday with a license plate "DBLKICK".

I figured that there was a good chance the owner is a Rockpage member.

Just thought it was interesting.

Freelance Audio can meet that rider with a couple substitutions. Call Brian soon. He is normally pretty busy.

Two of my favorite guitar solos, both by Frank Zappa:

Muffin Man - Strictly Commercial (I have a live version that is 10 times better)

Re: EAW?

If you had a choice of two sets of main speakers, each with the same quality sound and 132db output, one set weighs 200lbs and the other 500lbs...which one will you choose? It would depend on what you are doing. If you needed a flyable cabinet you might not have a choice. That kind of construction ...

However, I wouldn't mind some discussion on the subject. Sounds like a good topic to discuss. Do you think that the 1w/1m SPL rating is an important factor in touring system rigs? I will not even to pretend to understand the complexities of large touring systems but it is an interesting topic. Dave.

Did I miss a discussion about EAW here or are you just venting from something else?

It seems like you are making a pretty broad, undefined statement here.

The tabbed interface is something I really do like. I did look at Firefox a few months ago for that reason. I ended up not using it because it doesn't support Outlook Web Access (I wasn't really surprised).

From what I am hearing, IE 7 may include tabbed browsing.

It's my opinion to use it. ............................ Besides the pic and this thread was meant as a joke. Not for a debate on who likes what. The pic was funny for sure. It really sums up where many people are today. I know you didn't intend it to be a final authorative statement on browsers. I ...

For starters, it's open source. Not sure if IE is but, guessing from Micro-anal-soft it most likely isn't. Open source means that there are lots of opportunities to make it better by many, many bright people. Making something open source generally means that it has a pretty good chance of being bet...

What is so great about Firefox? I am sure Firefox can get just as screwed up as IE under the same circumstances.

I use IE every day and wonder why people would take the time to switch.

Shift has played at City Limits for a couple years now. In the beginning I thought we were being taken advantage of because it seemed like we didn't get all the door money. After a few gigs I asked Claudio about it. He told me that you can't just count the heads coming in the door and mulitply by $5...

The only way I would "go in" on a PA is if I owned whole pieces of equipment myself Very good point. We have that covered pretty well. I own the entire PA except for the IEM's which the band owns collectively. We take a percentage of each gig and put it into a band fund. One of the things...

For claification. We only use our system at places without in-house sound. At places like Bergi's we use some of our stuff (mixer, monitors lights).

Shift carries our own PA and lights everywhere we need it. It is a little bit of a hassle. But we have things worked out pretty well. We generally don't have any issues (knocking on wood).

I think it has much more to do with environment. How else do you explain the fact that some people truly could care less about music. Good point. Actually my wife is kind of like that. She listens to talk radio most of the time. She said music was never a big deal to her parents and is glad that I ...

Why do we like music?

The other day I was driving along listening to some CD and thought, "what makes us like music?". When I say "us", I don't mean musicians, soundguys, rockpagers, etc. I mean human beings in general. You know how there is some hardwired thing in a guys brain that makes us like boob...
