XM Radio / Sirius, What do you listen to ?

Post by Hawk »

What do you listen to when you listen to Satellite Radio ?

I've been listening to XM channel (recently discovered) 76. They call it "Fine Tuning" and the say something like, "We only play good music picked for this channel".

It is an eclectic mix of everything. I've heard everything from an acapella group doing Bach, to Beatles to Joni Mitchel to Clapton to Louis Armstrong to a String Quartet covering Rush's YYZ. Today I heard a really good Latin groove with a bagpipe doing a lead, and someone doing a nice cover of America by Paul Simon.

Blues, Jazz (old and new) Standards, Classical..........if it's good, it's on 76.

Anyone else catch this channel ?

i heart satellite rado. great topic!!!

i've got XM radio. although, i'm thinking of changing to sirius. i know what you mean about the stations that you love. i do the occasional browse, but i'm hooked on the punk station Fungus-where you can everything from black flag to the clash to social distortion to the anti-nowhere league to the ramones etc..., the 80's new wave/alternative station where you get everything from the jesus and mary chain to the church to talking heads to the cure etc..., and the x country station- where you get everything from hank III to wanye hancock to dwight yoakam to the avett brothers etc... you get the idea.

i dunno what these kids are listenin to these days. i'm out of the "pop culture" loop. do i care? hell no! i have NEVER been a fan of music that has been forced upon us to listen to. it's GREAT to have a resource such as the satellite radio (and internet of course) to find great music. no more rooting through record stores in HOPES to find something worth buying......not that i don't still LOVE searching for music & vinyl at independant music shops!!

gabba gabby hey!!

I listen to regular old WVAM 1430AM. ESPN Radio right here in Altoona. Occasionally Q94. I don't listen to that "other" rock station anymore.

O&A are the mainstay in my car 90% of the time. They have Ron and Fez on there too, but I don't like them at all. Their material is junk and their humor is way too dry for my taste. Was hoping the channel split with 202 and another station would have happened so that O&A would be on 24 hours a day on 202, but with the merger and all that trash, they stopped that split from happening.

Sirius channel 19 Octane - 20 Alt Nation - 21 1st Wave usually but I will go through the stations on occassion. Last Saturday I had to drive to Virginia and turn around and come right back and it was a pleasure not having to find a new radio station every 20 minutes!

Sirius all the way........ESPN and Octane mostly.......I bought the boombox and listen to it at work...in freakin Shawville! I'll never go back to terrestrial. BTW, I do occasionally listen to Squizz on XM; I get it with DirecTV. Also, if Tim was running "shine", I didn't get any.
