Power conditioners
We just bought a Monster PowerCenter 3500. I've yet to fire up the PA with it, but I can say my guitar rig is somewhat noisy on "2". I plugged into the monster, and my rig was dead quiet on 4 1/2. So far so good. Any one else use this stuff? Not necessarily Monster, but whatever.

I wont use anything else. Lonewolf once told me there is a huge difference between an "entry level" Furman and a "more expensive" Furman. I took that to the test and found out he was absolutley right.
I took it further and put the monster vs the Furman and I was so impressed that I bought a monster. My bro and I both use them and I know Scott from FedUp does too. Best thing to ever happen to my Mesa.

You know, this thread reminds me I need a good power conditioner for my PA rig. The gig requires that we play out in the middle of a field, on a generator, on somebody's porch, bars, old churches, etc... I have an extensive background in live audio and bands in particular... you'd think I'd be more on top of it. Thanks, guys.------>JMS
What model do you guys use? There are a lot of PowerCenters, and I could go for a dose of clean power.Killjingle wrote:I took it further and put the monster vs the Furman and I was so impressed that I bought a monster. Vent, I think we're talking about a different device altogether. Sorry if my initial post was misleading. I'm talking about AC power conditioners. Most easily found from Furman or Monster. These "clean" the power straight out of the wall, i.e.: regulate the voltage to 120 constantly, alert to ground issues, surge protection, etc. When I was referring to hiss, I meant the hiss brought about from the wall power. I'm guessing your hiss is something the amp cannot prevent from using too much gain/distortion. What I think you're talking about is a noise gate. Myself, I've never tried a standalone gate, my Line 6 Pod XT has one built in. I'm an avid reader of guitar world, and just about EVERY world famous pro player in the rig section on the last page uses a Boss NS-2. I think they're only about 80 bucks, too.Ya, I've been looking at putting a noisegate or something in the line.
I'd like to find something that doesn't cost a fortune, but works well.
Anyone familiar with the Boss NS-2 or the MXR M135?

mean that I'm thinking about adding a power conditioner...then just hurriedly went off
somewhere else.
Was thinking about putting up a post asking if anyone was familiar with the pedals and
just went spastic or something.
Sorry 'bout that.

I've heard really good things about the Monster conditioners. My used Furman has given me three years of faithful service. I even tripped the breaker at an outdoor gig this past summer. I just pressed the reset button and played the rest of the gig fine. But I think that it's on its last legs. The dimmer switch for the rack lights no longer functions - luckily, it's on its brightest setting. Plus, the outlet cable has seen better days. I saw that Monster has a model that's around a $100 or so.
Through hum-cancelling pickups and clean power, I've been on a mission to eliminate all noise coming from my rig. I think I can do it without introducing a noise gate. There are a few rooms where I get some hum due to less-than-ideal power. The worst is Yesterday's Party. Playing that room takes an extra twenty minute setup time to just find an outlet that doesn't make your amp sound like it's sizzling bacon.
...of course, I shall never win the war against florescent lighting.

after reading the specs; I would say they are virtually identical other than the fact mine has more outlets and a second LED for metering. I havent run in to the scenario where I needed all the outlets, nor can I say u would be justified spending the extra 50 bux for an extra 4...
when I compared specs I looked at pro 1000 vs pro 2000. I cant find the exact model u are referencing.
