changing the sound of a talk box?

does anyone know of a way to cut a lot of the highs out of my talk box. ive been playing around with it a bit and i want to change the sound of it. its post power amp so i cant just throw an eq in the chain. i would like to be able to just throw some sort of filter on it and make it adjustable and the only way i can think of doing it is to use a crossover like what would be built into a pa cab but then ive never seen one that was adjustable. im thinking about stuffing the hose with different things to kind of muffle it a bit which would cut some of what i want but i would like to have a bit more controle over it.

If that's a Heil, there should already be a big fat capacitor inside that cuts the highs. About the only thing you can do is put a high-wattage (like 20W?) 250K+ pot, a 20W?-100ohm resistor and another big fat cap all in parallel with the one that's in there. Somebody might already make a power tone control out there...good luck finding it.

It ain't worth it and besides: Its a Talk Box...that's what it sounds like. We aren't talking Vintage 30s here. Its a 1" high-frequency compression driver with a filter cap. It will sound much better with a cleaner, lightly distorted dry amp sound with the highs cut.

There isn't much you can do physically to change the tone. If you mess with that seal between driver and tube, you're done. Try a cotton ball inside the copper seal (not in the tube) and you'll see what I mean. It needs a free flow of air.

So if I were you, I'd get busy and start learning my A, B, C's.

Oh yeah, there's also the Rocktron Banshee that has its own little preamp with tone control. Instead of running wires from the power amp and speakers, it runs in-line just like another pedal.
