Grumpy for Christmas ?

Post by Hawk »

My wife works in retail. She said more people are grumpy this year than she can ever remember. :(

What do you think ? More grumpy people ?

Are you grumpy this year ? I hope not.

Haven't noticed that the the bar....you always have those that are grumpy and then those that are overly cheerful. When I have time, I will research it to see if it matters if they drink whiskey or beer. :)

Economy stinks, people are losing their jobs left and right, nothing this year worked out for anybody, too many people think about themselves more than others maybe?

I'm only ever grumpy here. 8) I try to stay upbeat when I'm around people... I'm repellent enough without being a d*ck to people's faces. I work retail, and on your average holiday-season Saturday, about 50% of the people who walk in the door want to get their stuff and get out... they've been spending money they don't know if they'll have next month, and they're tired and maybe hungry. I try to go easy on them, but if I get 3 or 4 in a row like that, it can be trying. I just grin and bear it, I'm pretty patient overall. I keep thinking that the after-Christmas slow-retail time is going to bankrupt a lot of businesses next year with the economy the way it is, so I'm thankful for the sales.
I solved my Merry Christmas vs. Happy Hollidays quandary, too. I say, " Have a good evening."------>JMS

The economy has definitely made us scale Christmas back. But that has made me the opposite. Instead of frantically shopping and overbuying I have tried to be creative which means spending money on inexpensive trips together and staying home and enjoying my family more. (well except for a buisiness trip this past week - which has me wanting to stay home even more!
I think I'm learning to truly count my blessings! It's been really pretty nice!

Well looks like I'll be having some unexpected surgery this year so I'll be spending the holidays recouping.

I understand that pain. My fiancee' and my Dad both died on the 4th of July. But I stopped hating that day. They wouldn't want my unhappiness. I hope someday you can find a way to look at the holidays as joyous again.

Good advice. It was merely a coincidence, and you shouldn't punish anyone or anything because of it. I can't imagine your Dad would have wanted Christmas ruined on his account every year. I lost my Dad when I was a young adult, and it was tough, but grief resolves over time, and eventually, you'll let go of the hurt, and get on with your life the way your father brought you up.--->JMS

My dad died the day before New Year's Eve. Ditto Songy.
